I have a friend who works at gamestop, he is a manager there (read: He is in his mid-twenties, and needs the job to live.) He told me yesterday that they should be getting their copies either today (thursday) or tomorrow (friday). TPTB at gamestop have told them that if they take a copy of the game prior to the mid-night release monday that they will be fired. The store cannot complete any transactions on the game until about 11:30 ish monday night (the pre-buy is not an actual buy, even if you paid for the game in total, you will get another reciept when you actually get the game, that is the actual purchase reciept.) If any empolyees take the game, it will be considered stealing, and they will lose their job. I am sure there are some people who work for the company that don't care about losing their job, so they may take it. My friend said that he is seriously thinking about calling out of work until monday, cause he doesn't know if he can sit there looking at the game, and not taking one.
he also told me that there may be a similar thing with GTAIV that there was with Halo3, if you are caught playing the game prior to release it could constitute a permanent ban from Xbox Live.
Way I look at it, I waited this long, whats a few more days.
