Hi

I've pre-ordered Guitar Hero 3 but after looking at their forums I'm beginning to regret it.

The amount of issues that are being reported about the controller, specifically the detachable neck and sticking buttons, is unprecedented. There are a number of fixes (or bodges) suggested on the forum but surely this means that RedOctane haven't tested this controller extensively.

My biggest questions are why hasn't RedOctane acknowledged these issues and why haven't the gaming press (gamespot included) not cottoned on to it?

The controller issue needs to be resolved, not just to prevent the inevitable slaying by Rock Band, but to satisfy gamers who have, or will be purchasing, the next installment of this fantastic series.

Any thoughts?

the controller issue isn't as bad as when guitar hero II came out, most people's guitars work fine where as last time a good majory of people's guitars were screwed up.

i've heard a lot of bad things about the new controller too, but i'm not sure how bad it's blown out of proportion.

Like someone said before me, mine has worked fine. No problems with the buttons, neck, or anything. You might have just gotten a botched one.

I went Sunday afternoon to pick up GHIII and there were 6 guys in line returning the guitar because it had problems. Both 360 and PS3 versions. I dont know how bad of an issue it is, but theres obviously SOME problems with it.

The X-Plorer is great, I bought two when GH2 was released and haven't had any problems yet with either

same as me i bought Gh 2 and my xplorers strum bar was real sticky and i though it was a flaw, turned out its just need to be broken in, now it works great and still does after alll the punishment i put it through. so the sticky buttons is prpolly the same thing, just keep playing it won't stay that long

A friend of mine was experiencing the button issue. (Where a button would stop registering temporarily) Thinkingthe guitar wasdefective,he called his local Gamestop and said that his controller was acting up and he wanted a new one. The guy said they didn't have anymore 360 versions left in stock but he gave him a tip on how to try to remedy the situation.

If you're experiencing the button problem or your star power is going off without tilting the guitar up, it may be a connection problem between the neck and the guitar. Find a way to clean the connectors on the neck and guitar (blow in the guitar like it's an old NES cartridge) and see if it helps. I'm personally dealing with the star power issue. Star power just activates out of no where. I'm going to try this advice and see if it helps any. If not, you better be damn sure I'm returning it as soon as they get more in stock.
