Hey ... I decided to fire up my copy of Halo 2 on my Xbox 360, and I'm running into an odd problem. Occasionally, frames of light or shadows will artifact on the screen, remaining until there is a major change in lighting levels or there is a loading section. Sometimes the frame comes back, even if I'm well ahead of the area where it started, or even on another level altogether. This is the first time I'm playing this particular game on a 1080p monitor (using component cables). Any ideas what's causing this, or how to remove it, since the effect does get distracting during gameplay. Thanks.

Wow, I've seen this. This is a bug in the Backwards Compatibility emulation for Halo 2. It's not a problem with your console or your Halo 2 disc. Unfortunately, not all games on the B.C. list work flawlessly. Another game that comes to mind is Ninja Gaiden Black. Slow, choppy framerate issues. And don't expect a fix for this. Backwards Compatibility updates are a thing of the past now. MS cut support for that. And oddly enough, around the same time MS stopped supporting the B.C. list, Xbox Originals hit the Xbox Live scene. You can buy those games again through a digital download and not have any problems... Good thing I still have my original Xbox.

Yeah, it's just a glitch. Theres nothing you can do to change it and Microsoft would have fixed it by now if they could. Just quit the game once you've finished up you match then start the game up again. Thats about all you can do.

Thanks for the quick responses. I was able to get it to go away whenever I would save/quit after reaching a new checkpoint. However, sometimes the same image would return later. Just very odd. Oh well, I finished it, so time to hop into Halo 3. :)

yeah not all BC is perfect. due to different graphics cards and how much processing power is needed for emulation but i would try chaning the screen resolutions. 480p,. 720p or try vga resoultions. maybe some have this problem others dont

I actually had this issue just recently and wanted to verify that it was normal too. I would like to point out that Halo 2 of all games has been updated more than once via BC, and is probably one of the more heavily supported BC titles.

Any problems with the disc based BC games are just as prominent in the downloadable ones as far as i'm aware. Any updates or support are equal whether you downloaded it or own the disc....so that theory is a bit moot.
play it on 480Piboo01
I dont think that would really do away with the issue.
