I think a lot of the hype died pretty quickly because it's getting to be the holiday season and a lot of other great games are coming. I still really like Halo 3, it's one of my personal favorites, and I play it regularly. So I think people are still playing it,I just don't think it has the media buzz it used to.
Just cause people stoped talking about doesn't mean its dead. as for gears i never really liked tht game and it turned one of my best friends into a nerd
Well, Gears of War is still so cool to play on live but dont u think that halo 3 just died too fast and people stop playing that game and moved to games like cod4??? I see my post got very controversial, maybe u misunderstood it, im not bashing halo or saying its bad, or that no one plays it anymore, all that i meant is that idk if thehype about it is dead or not

I have heard a lot of people say that COD4 has killed halo 3, sure, took some away, but on the weekends still see 400k-500k on line playing halo 3...most I have seen on COD4 is maybe a tad over 100k....
No. There are a ton of good games out for the 360 right now, and people are playing other things. Over time, people will migrate back to Halo 3, and it will most certainly have millions of people still playing it somewhat consistently until the 3rd Xbox comes out, which is what puts it above others. Nothing has gameplay like Halo, it's too good to just die out, even if the campaign and maps were a little disappointing.
I read on bungie.net in the news section "At the current pace tomorrow will be the 777,777,777th game of Halo 2 played on Xbox Live." Given the current pace of Halo 3's gameplay, we're on track to hit that number of games played at this time next year. The Wolf(son) says that games of Halo 3 are being played three times as fast as its older sibling" hardly sounds dead to me :D
