Halo 3, overated game of the year

It shouldve gotten a 9. Better than Halo 2 but not as good as Halo: Combat Evolved. Its a very good game but its the most over-rated game in history if you ask me.Shade-Blade

And why do people keep harping on the graphics? Don't you guys understand anything about graphics engines? Look at Gears, beautiful game right? For sure. Look more closely and you realize that 90% of the colors in that game are different shades of gray. Also realize that there is about 1/3rd as much going on on screen while playing Gears as when playing Halo.

Now look at Halo 3. You see vibrant colors, varied landscapes and more particle effects in 2 minutes than all of Gears. Have you ever stopped to look at a grenade explosion in Halo? Or the blast effect of a spartan laser hitting an enemy or vehicle? Really awe inspiring stuff.

You want to talk best graphics? Then you might as well throw Fight Night in there with its hyper realistic boxer models.

There's a lot more to graphics than just high resolution textures.

I think overated game of the year goes to Bioshock.

Most of my Halo 3 hated is just due to the story and the horrible online maps, which also make Forge worthless.

I dont really see the problem with graphics nowadays, if its not unbelievably noticable that graphics are poor than I wouldnt give a squat. All I know is its a fun game, online mostly but campaign is ok.

edit: But yes I agree that its overrated, its not the best game on the 360 at all. Even among the shooters.

Anyways there are MUCH better FPS games on the 360. Such as Bioshock.

Much better multiplaye games like COD 4 coming soon.

Much better games with graphics like Gears of War.

Amazing shooters like GRAW 2 and Rainbow Six - Vegas

Halo 3 is the best game for the 360. The reason you probably don't like single player is because you probably skipped through all the cut-scenes. Watch the cut-scenes before and after you beat a level. You learn to appreciate how great the storyline actually is. Multiplayers has it's issues but why are over half a million people online everyday? I just don't understand why everyone is hating on Halo 3.

I've played Gears and GRAW 2 andI honestly don't understand how those games are any better.

Gears multiplayer gets old after a week. The singeplayer is fun but the multiplayer is just plain boring. Graw 2 has to be one of the most overatted games I've ever played. What makes Graw so much better than any other FPS? it just feels like a average game.

You should rename yourself ANGRY_LONER_HALO3_DEFENDER_NUMBER1HALOFAN_I_EAT_CHIEF_CEREAL. halo 3 did seem underwhelming, the graphics and gameplay in gears of war have yeat to be touched. I am so sick of gears of war i really wanted halo 3 to be good. i think shadowrun is the best multiplayer game out there right now, and they could have gone a lot further with graphics. but halo 3 was so hyped it made me surprised to see how cheap it looks. and the way it plays in single player is really boring- gears took the walking into another room of enemies concept and added to it, Halo 3 stayed stale. If they had had localized damage when you shot someone or execution style killings, or some kind of cover and fire system they might have made halo 3 better, but the mediocre graphics, especially on multiplayer, are disappointing. im pissed i preordered it, i never really play it that much except to do huge group battles with vehicles-the only fun part of halo 3.

true true... halo 3 is good...but its almost the same as halo 2...halo 3 suits the original xbox 360... they should have done something to make it look "nex gen"... like rainbow six vegas...they completely changed and its a beautiful game now...

You forget great lighting effects, and a solid framerate throughout the entire game.

Halo 3 = epic phail

Orange Box = slightly less epic phail
