i didnt think it was anything special compared to gears or cod4

I agree. It was nice but there were a lot of jaggies. Halo 3 lacks textures and detail unlike COD4 and Gears of War, or even The Darkness which is superior in detail. Halo 3 was running at 640p or 680p (bad memory), not 720p. Even then, if you pay any attention to the level design, Halo 3 lacks textures, big time.
HDTV's don't upgrade graphics, only the resolution, which, to me, isn't worth paying $700 to upgrade. Plus HD has too many jaggies and stuff. I personally am both a PC gamer and a console gamer, but PC games, to me, are better because games on console depend on the consoles hardware, whereas games on pc depend on your current PC chip configuration. Play Crysis with everything on very high and see what I mean. Trust me the Xbox 720 and PS4 won't be able to run Crysis, but PCs can.dalopolo
I think you need to... SHUT UP!

No disrespect. Get an HDTV and you'll be saying otherwise. I understand the 720p vs 1080p debate where as the differences are little to none, but comparing an SDTV to HDTV in gaming, is just wrong. For your sake, I hope you get an HDTV, for it will enhance your gaming experience for a while to come, at least until the next technological improvement arrives.
you do realise you can get a great 22in lcd hd monitor at circuit city for 350 bucks, *its made for a pc but has hdmi ports, supports 1280p and has a great contrast ratio.
i use a polaroid 15 inch lcd tv though, i got it 2 years ago and it has a crap contrast ratio but it is hi def (was 500 bucks when i got it new)
i like the smaller monitors because 1. i live in a rural area that has digital cable that looks like crap and my cable company does not offer hi def channels at this time. 2. i take my system and monitor to LAN parties and usually have to go to a friends house to get online (rural area equals no broadband offered)
Now i've always owned Halo 3 on my 360, but all along i was playing on an SDTV. So i was at a game store and i saw Halo 3 on a LCD, i was like WOW that looks soo much better!! It looked absoultley stunning! I didn't think the difference was that big, I cannot wait to see my COD4 on HDTV. I remember really liking both COD4 and Halo 3's graphics when i first got me 360 and seeing how much of a leap it was. Seeing Halo 3 in HD took it to the next level, i wanna see Cod4 and Gears in HD!leonhead
I got Hd LCD and i think it looks okish! nothing special...
try Gears of War out on LCD'will give you a heart attack!!!!
I think you should read up on Contrast Ratios?Cause they pretty much dont mean crap!you do realise you can get a great 22in lcd hd monitor at circuit city for 350 bucks, *its made for a pc but has hdmi ports, supports 1280p and has a great contrast ratio.

It didn't blow me away but it does look quite nice in most places, I'd say it ranges from dull and bland to spectacular (the latter being rare).

contrast ratio shows how the difference between whites and blacks. they only matter if you get annoyed if your black on your LCD is too bright (mine is way to bright) so yes they do mean something to some of us.
the newer LCDs contrast ratios are great and the blacks are black like they should be, but the older LCD tvs have a tendancy to be lighter. its a small gripe, but when you play games that are supposed to be dark, it can be annoying.

COD4 has horrible textures. :?Call of Duty 4 just had bad graphics. Period. There's little upgrade over Call of Duty 2's.

go back and play it again it aint anywere near as bad as you put it
Halo 3 graphics sux to me. The game was actually created under an awkward resolution plus they design the game screen in half so that they can take advantage of the lighting and lighting textures. That looks good but still doesn't look graphically good as Condemned 2 or Uncharted. Hell, even R6: Vegas and Gears of War is better in textures and bit mapping. I'm not a Halo fan but I liked the third one. It felt more epic to me instead of the first 2. You can really tell the graphics aren't that good when you look at the game on an HDTV; especially the character's face and a close up of the scenery. Other than that, an okay game.
P.S. Halo reminds me of a game that was created on the Nintendo 64. Same story and weapons; that's probably why I don't like Halo as much.
