THERE WILL BE NO HALO 4! THAT HAS BEEN MADE CLEAR! THERE MAY BE A SPIN-OFF WITH ARBITOR OR SOMETHING BUT THERE WILL BE NO HALO 4! im sorry but im tired of hearing about the Halo 4 that will never come out.gears90
WE REALLY NEEDED TO BE SHOUTED AT WHILE YOU SAID THAT!!
It would be foolish to think that there won't be a Halo 4 at some point, absolutely foolish. Microsoft and Bungie made way too much money selling consoles on the strength of the Halo franchise for them not to make another game.
NOW, that said, I don't think the new game/series will be called Halo; you guys claiming that there won't be a sequel because of storyline are being foolish. You're assuming that just because the storyline for the Halo trilogy isover that the Halo universe is over. That is simply not the case. Wether it's a prequel, set near or on the advent of the Spartan Project whereby you'd fightas a Spartan unit, or squad, or wether it's a bona-fide sequel following the Master Chief in the after events of Halo 3; there will be another game- not on the 360 I'd wager, but on the successor console as a heavyweight launch title.
It's just good business to reserve something that big for a new console launch.
I know the fanboys are probably gritting their teeth and screaming at the screen saying 'THEY'VE ENDED THE TRILOGY!!!!1111 YOU A NOOB!!!!1111' but if you think about it in practical terms; Paramount ended Star Trek- then they made Star Trek the Next Generation; same universe continuity, different terms and stories to be told. (And before someone tries to be a smartarse, yes I do realise the timeline difference, hence why I'm citing it as an ecxample of a logical progression for a series.) Hell, maybe Bungie can remake Marathon and adapt that as a future setting for the Halo series, adding even more to an already well stocked and supported gaming universe.
Most games that have a 'Universe' setting (IE: Several games supported by a planned backstory and events in said Universe's 'History' lead up to the events of the game.) will revisit, revamp, retool, or redo content set in said universe- Halo is unique in this respect, and bear in mind this is coming from someione who dispises Halo, in that it has a rich and numerous fanbase much like Star Trek which will support future games, films, series and general contents- that's the strength of the Halo brand. Don't underestimate it, Halo is one of the most popular franchises in the world of gaming, and Bungie can go wherever they like at this point in terms of content- they have that much freedom.
To say that there won't be another game set in the Halo Universe (Discounting 'Wars' for the moment) is like saying the sun isn't going to come up tomorrow- it sounds philosophical, but you know in the heart of hearts and in the back of your mind that it's going to happen, no matter what the whys and the hows in your mind tell you.
