Personally... I like MW2 better... I know this is going to make a lot of Halo fans mad. But don't get me wrong, I LOVE HALO, the story line and the music are amazing... But MW2 is better. (IMO)
Both are fun.
I'm awful at Halo on Live but I also think the ranking system is messed up and it's stupid that you have to get rid of the overshield and melee or shoot them once before they are dead.
MW2 Hardcore Team Deathmatch seems way more competetive to me. One shot, your dead.
What is your opinion?

Modern Warfare is all about who saw who first now a days. So many exploits, so many glitches, so many noob tactics, so many over powered guns. Shadowrun, Left 4 Dead, and Call of Duty 4 are to date my favorite games online. Modern Warfare 2 puts shame to Call of Duty 4.

Well if you dont like the oversheild play Team Swat its no oversheild its pretty much one shot kills thats what i play Halo has alot to offer save replay clips make photos , Forge is always fun to mess with . both are fun but Halo offers more creative content Halo wins IMO just because theres a game mode for everyone bungies supports the game .

Thanks for keeping it civil in your opinions.
I hate it when Halo fans and MW fans clash and it turns into a big keyboard brawl. x_x

I prefer Halo 3 since it's balanced, there are no glitches or hacked servers, theres vehicle combat, forge, saved films and campaign co-op. The only thing I like in Modern Warfare 2 more than Halo 3 is it's graphics.

Halo is cool, it kills guys and doesn't afraid of anything.

No but seriously, i haven't played Halo 3 in ages. I play MW2 (on ps3) quite alot. However i think the online gameplay is better in Halo. On modern warfare 2 like someone else said it's who see's who first. On halo 3 if someone see's you first you've got things like jumping round corners, onto high ledges or throwing much easier to use grenades. By easier grenades i mean they are easier to calculate where they are going to fall before you throw them (well atleast i do). You also have more health so you can run away easier.

aahh i wanna play halo 3 now.

Because it's more realistic. Let's be honest with ourselves. If I shot someone in the torso or the head they would either die instantly or bleed out... Presenting more of a challenge instead of having to run all over the map unloading hundreds of rounds, 2 grenades and a melee attack to destroy someone.

Wouldn't enemies that require more shots to kill present more of a challenge? What you said is an exaggeration though. If you know how to play Halo it shouldn't take you a full clip from any weapon to kill someone(aside from the plasma pistol which is designed to complement another weapon). And the game provides proper context to make it believable why you can't simply one shot kill your opponents with any weapon. Regardless, it's multiplayer, it's not going to be realistic and it shouldn't have to be. Is it realistic for people to murder each other for flags on a regular basis? No less realistic than being able to call in an AC130 simply because you killed a certain number of players or dual wielding 1887s.

mw2 got boring quick imo, They need new maps or something. halo feels like i have more basic gameplay options (vehicles, weapons that play 100% different from each other, map size, and chaos) but if your just into hardcore/swat matches or spawn killing matches then never mind.

Every time I play MW2 and I see somebody running around with dual shot guns online, it makes me wish I was playing COD 4...I really can't stand MW2's online at all, from the maps to the glitches. Halo 3's online was nothing to complain about the last time I played but I hardly play it.

Halo games were never designed to be realistic, but lets make this discussion a little interesting. Halo has a reason to why people can be shot to hell and survive. That's because of the spartans/elites regenerating shield armor. There is no reason to why a human in Call of Duty can be shot a bunch of times and could survive. So, in a weird way, Halo is more realistic. :)

Halo has the same basic formula no matter what you play. You see a guy, you charge at him while shooting whatever gun you have, you exchange fire till someone's shields get low, then hit the B button. Everytime. With the comment about how it sometimes takes more than five or six bullets to kill someone in COD, I feel that it only happens with certain guns. As for overpowered guns in MW2, all I ask is how? Most guns are fairly balanced and we have no guns that are abused nearly as bad as the M16 from the original. Yeah we have the Model 1887's but no one really uses them that often. In the first one, no matter what gun you used, the M16 user ALWAYS got that little bit of an advantage. Its not about seeing the person first either. When you get shot at, drop, crouch, do something. As for getting killed from behind, as long as you know your surroundings and pay a little bit of attention to the radar, you will be fine. 95% of MW2 players panic as soon as you go prone and it is so funny.

That doesn't happen everytime. That's not even a good strategy in Halo. My friend does that and wonders why his k/d ratio is always in the minus. I'm ranked around the 30's and most of the players use the battle rifle including myself. When I'm desperate and couldn't get a long range weapon that is my last resort. So again, what you said doesn't happen everytime.

Well, last time I played the game (granted that was quite awhile ago) thats all I see. My rankings were at like 25-30 or so in most playlists and all that I see is melee over and over. I personally find Halo's online to be the most boring and broken garbage ever. I never felt like it was fair, either myself or the person I was fighting had some sort of advantage over the other. While I say that, I don't say that MW's online is perfect. Its FAR from perfect. Spawning is pretty bad in a few levels and I find that some of the hit detection is completely broken (only sometimes though). Not to mention some of the matches that get crazy with killstreaks are not even fun. I think killstreaks ruined the online

I can understand you finding the online boring, Halo is not for everyone, but it's definitely not broken. If that were the case, then Bungie would be constantly updating it like Epic did with Gears 2.

See but I didn't find that Gears 2 was broken, I found that the first one was with all the shotgun running that happened. Personally I just think that Gears is generally just one over-rated pile with a few decent elemets (shooting, controls). Not to mention Marcus Fenix is a Douchebag. I think one of the biggest reasons that I didn't like Halo is because I hated the atmosphere of the game. If you know what I mean, and I mean about the little whiny kids, and how everyone online just seems to be a dick. Everyone goes "oh im better than u dur, watch me pwn ur n00b a$$" and that really makes me mad personally

Thats every popular game on x-box live ever. At least with Halo 3 though you can completely avoid it by going into xbox live parties. In almost every playlist in Modern Warfare 2 you have to put up with what you get(although you could mute anyone who bothers you.... You know, just like how you could do the same in Halo 3 since launch.).

their both good i love them both. all depends the style you into. you wanna work little harder for your kills or just pull the trigger once/twice. the thing i truely love about halo is that its made for many people. You can goof off and have fun or you can play hardcore and bust some moves

CoD more realistic than Halo? since when? I think a bunch of spartan super soldiers with regenerating shields and alien weapons is much more realistic than CoD
and if you have to unload hundreds of rounds, 2 grenades and a melee to kill someone, you must have terrible accuracy...

Halo by far, MW2 is just broken. leveling up doesnt take skill it just makes you play the game. They both have their own glitches but halo's aren't anywhere close to mw2's. and mw just takes less skill than halo. halo you need to get consistent headshots, strafe, not be a stupid, and realise you arent going to outgun the guy with the shotgun when you have a pistol. mw is just shoot the guy you see. and anyone who says mw is more realistic than halo is stupid because in real life you wouldn't be hip firing 2 shotguns at once, or have on demand air support, or control air support through a laptop, or regen your health, or have a shotgun instead of a pistol, or physically be able to run with a shotgun and sniper rifle, or stand up and fire a .50 cal, or be requisitioned an intervention for anything short of high end assassinations, or knife from 10 feet away, or be using your knife almost at all. i could go on but i won't

Its easier for me to rank up in MW2 because its a matter of who sees who and shoots first. Halo 3 takes more combos and techniques to bring someone down. Halo 3 has a game type where its one shot kills just like MW2 also so Halo3 has more variety and customizations to make the game better online. its longevity as one of the top ogames f XBOX live speaks for itself.

Until they fix MW2 all non-broken multiplayer games are better. So yes I prefer Halo.

Halo is better. For all of you who say CoD hardcore is more realistic, play SWAT. It actually requires skill because headshots are one-shot kills, not body shots. It's pretty ridiculous when you get shot in the foot and die in CoD.

I've put a ton of time into both and honestly, I've switched over to MAG on the PS3 until BFBC2 comes out, I'm waiting for that game for my 360 online fun.

The other two have just hit a wall for me as far as enjoyment.

I think that Halo is far far far far more balanced than MW2. Also all the killstreaks make the game way to chaotic and not enjoyable at times in MW2. Conclusion Halo>MW2

for skill- Halo 3

for pure fun and something to get into fast- MW2

I'm like, level 8 in Halo, had a .59 K/D, MW2 was my first COD game ever and I sit at level 70 with 23% accuracy and 1.3 K/D, which I think is pretty good for someone like me.

DamianAlexander

I agree with you here even though im addicted to mw2, it is getting very 'nooby'. ( Campers, akimbo models, noob tubes...) and i hate the tactical knifers.

Halo is always going to be fun and competitive. There arent much ways for noobs to do anything that affects the gameplay, that's why it's fun.

Also IW made a wrong decision tolower the amount of health online. No skill, just sight!

I like both a lot! It depends on my mood. But MW2 multiplayer is so refined and more exciting compared to COD4.

Halo 3. Honestly, I believe that it has a more competitive multiplayer and overall better game, imo.

their very close. I think MW2's progression system keeps me coming back, i basically tend to play games with a clear goal in mind. Halo you rank up, but w/e, i dont care about it as much. I love unlocking a new scope or gun in call of duty, or even seeing new titles. I like Halo's slower fighting better (i dont mean the pace is worse, I mean it simply takes longer to kill some1 in halo).

I dunno I love both but I tried playing Halo after not playing it in like a year and it feels like were playing with nerf guns.. seriously the br needs to get a damage boost like how halo 2's was. But Im thinking this is just cause I've been playing games lately were it only takes like 3 shots and their dead.. not even.

Failed2Live

i think halo's ranking system is one of the best. Its one of the only games that seperates the pros from the newcomers. and how does shooting someone once make the game more competitive? that comment makes no sense

Because it's more realistic. Let's be honest with ourselves. If I shot someone in the torso or the head they would either die instantly or bleed out... Presenting more of a challenge instead of having to run all over the map unloading hundreds of rounds, 2 grenades and a melee attack to destroy someone.

Forgetting that Halo 3 nor MW2 are realistic in any sense? MW2 does have regenerating health....

Also, your last comment is a flatlout lie. I kill people with 5 bursts minimum when I have a battle rifle in my hands.

He did not lie he exagerated his comment. MW2 does take way more skill than you guys think. It does take a lot of tactics in order to be able to pull of killstreaks, not to mention because you die in only a couple of a shot, you pay way more attention to your surroundings and check your corners. Personally I just find Halo's multiplayer to be stupid. I don't like bunny hopping in a video game as it is flatout the most retarded thing in any game. Halo's multiplayer just is not fun for me. I am not a bad Halo player, I just hate playing it.

I think Halo takes zero skill until you get into the actual competetive gaming. Sniping is broken, and a lot of glitches happen. People glitch onto levels and other things as well. The comment about annoying people online I don't agree with either. Whenever I play MW2 or any other FPS, the people are generally not that annoying. As soon asI start to play Halo, out come the whiny little ten year olds.

hahaha your saying that halo 3 is bad because of glitches? have you played MW2 recently? and if halo takes zero skill i assume you are a level 50, numerous perfection and invincible medals and a very high K/D? The 'no skill' comment has to be one of the most ridiculous comments ever made anywhere, of course the game takes skill hence why some people are good at the game and others are not. There are so many wrong things with your comment, i could go on for ages. Yes there are children in halo, but there are just as many in MW2. who do you think is paying to get their accounts to prestige level 10? id love to know why you think sniping is broken...

Halo 3's online is far far far from broken. I've been playing it since launch and been active in these forums for a few years. I never see complaints on the online being broken or experienced anything glitchy (except for lag which happens to any game). Only complaints I saw were some people not liking it because of personal preferences. Which I can understand because Halo isn't for everyone.

It stil shocks me that people can get steaming angry an argue over video games like this...this is the reason why some hate MP and all the competitive bull that comes with it, its completely shameful to see people arguing over which game takes more "skill", thats why I prefer SP games because the discussion is usually over how fun the game is.

Wow, my post gets modded for defending myself from someone who would bash me and call my post wrong? Good job gamespot mods.

Anyway, I found that Halo was glitchy. I always had to deal with technical problems and glitching in every game I ever played. But hey that is just my experience with the game

And yes it is stupid that we argue over what takes "skill". I don't feel that I deserved any bashing for my opinion. I never wanted to agrue over that. People need to learn that there is such a thing as opinion

Sniping in Halo is broken because of the lack of any recoil or anything. No barrel sway whatsoever. Every gun in Halo is like that which I find completely unrealistic. I don't care if you have MJOINER armour that makes you superhuman.

He did not lie he exagerated his comment. MW2 does take way more skill than you guys think. It does take a lot of tactics in order to be able to pull of killstreaks,

In all honesty, what 'tactics' are you referring to other than camping, or lightweight + tactical knife?

not to mention because you die in only a couple of a shot, you pay way more attention to your surroundings and check your corners.Personally I just find Halo's multiplayer to be stupid. I don't like bunny hopping in a video game as it is flatout the most retarded thing in any game. Halo's multiplayer just is not fun for me. I am not a bad Halo player, I just hate playing it.

Opinions are nice, but to dismiss Halo as 'retarded', a game that is legitimately played in competitive tournaments while MW2 is not, is just wrong.

I think Halo takes zero skill until you get into the actual competetive gaming.

So, you're level 50 with perfection in every game?

Sniping is broken, and a lot of glitches happen.

Really? I shoot bullets out of one end, and the people I point at die....OH! Do you mean the ricochet? That's not a glitch, my friend.

People glitch onto levels and other things as well.

Levels as in ranks? Because those are 100% legit. Just look at the demographics and leaderboards at bungie.net.

The comment about annoying people online I don't agree with either. Whenever I play MW2 or any other FPS, the people are generally not that annoying. As soon asI start to play Halo, out come the whiny little ten year olds.

Personal experiences do not equate to the entire game as a whole. For me, it's the exact opposite, but I'm well aware that both games have a good amount of kids/idiots playing. But how does that really have an overall effect on the game itself?

Well like I have said numerous times, thats how I feel.

The sniping is broken as in it takes no skill and I mean no skill. There is no sway or recoil to any of Halo's weapons. Its point and shoot and it will hit them. I mean levels as in game exploits/glitching. How can you even get ranks out of that? Halo levels are full of exploits you can use for a "cheap advantage" over other people.

No I do not have those high of levels. I stated in my original post that after it starts to get more competetive, Halo does shine. If you would read the post and get the neccessary information out of it we could have a meaningful discussion about our opinions. The original topic is based on opinion so how can anyone bash for giving it?

Oh, and about the tactics. Those things you mention are a handful of people that think that those "tactics" work. I agree with you that it is pretty BS sometimes in regards to the more "nooby" tactics. Saying COD has no tactics is false. It takes a lot of reflexs and awareness in order to have a good game on COD.

Even though I have been harsh on Halo, I do like the game. I also don't fault all the people who like the game, which is what I am guessing most people have though I am doing. Halo is a good game, personally I don't like the online. Thats just how I feel and I don't mean to offend.
