Ever since Halo Reach was announced I would get goosebumps about it as I thought about it everyday. When the beta came out, I was on it like flies on doodoo. It was a remarkable, almost majestic, experience and I truly never had so much fun with multiplayer in any video game. I was bursting with excitement and anticipation for the final product, and when it finally arrived... I was truly disappointed. I do not think it's a bad game at all, it is quite good; however, the beta seemed so much more fun for some reason. After a couple weeks with the actual game, I got very bored and did not attempt to play it again. So basically, anyone else feel the same way?

Long story short, I enjoyed the beta a lot more than the finished product, anyone else feel the same way?

I enjoy the campaign and firefight quite a bit. I also have a lot of fun playing local splitscreen online play with my buddies. it's a good game but Bungie has failed to get me seriously hooked to the online multiplayer, but that's more of a personal thing because I feel i'm growing out of it.

The SP is just fine, and that's all I care about as the online gaming scene, no matter what the game, is largely populated by teenagers and neckbearded overweight thirty somethings who live at home with Mom. How anyone can play games with these "people" and have any fun is beyond me.

Wow. This is EXACTLY how I felt. I also didn't like the subtle changes Bungie made, like the sniper rifle in Sword Base. It was fun to fly around sniping people or just plain taking the sniper from the guy

The singleplayer was actually a huge letdown in my opinion, the story felt so rushed and I felt no tie to the characters, except for SPOILER ALERT the scene after the credits where noble six fights off the elites but is pummeled in the end. Perhaps it is because I played it on Legendary and was more focused on strategy, it was not that hard though, or the fact that I kind of rushed through it, I don't know... it just didn't appeal to me.

Same thing can be said for Call of Duty and if anything your stereotype is even more so on that franchise which is why I don't play it. FPS games are played out in my opinion and untill I see something orignal and an FPS that isn't entirely devoted to just the MP then I will come back to playing them. So far thenly games I'm interested in that are FPS's are Duke Nukem Forever and Crysis 2 but I'm still iffy about both of them.

Sorry for going off topic.....anyway people are still complaining about this game lol? It's been out for a while now get over it nothing is gonna change so just move on and sell it while you can still get a decent profit if you don't like it. I like it. Its a solid FPS but there isn't anything special about it that hasn't been done before. Also I loved the SP and I don't mind the MP, It's fun which is what games are supposed to be about.

I'm tired of this generation being all about competitiveness. They think if a game can't be played competitively then there is no point because they want to be payed to play video games. It's pathetic grow up and get a real job. You'll never be that good. Not towards you OP or Steve just to people in general that think this way.

The full game is less fun because you've had more time with it. Trust me, the final game is no worse. Arguably better. I played the beta plenty. The walking speed in the beta was slower, the DMR and the needle rifle had less ammo per clip and armor lock was way cheaper/

the grenades were way over powered in the BETA. maybe you liked that or because everyone was new in the BETA you thought you were so good at it until everyone got better

I feel like I liked the BETA more to . Mainly because the elites were so buff and when you were playing as an elite you felt truly powerful . You could just laugh at spartans . I don't care that it was unbalanced , evading away and having your shields recharge 4 times as fast was sweet. They should have left it like this because at the end of the day in invasion everybody gets a go on both sides anyway (apart from slayer) . Spartans own elites now .

You're not going to get a good sense of the narrative if you just rush through it trying to get to the end.

So instead of just gaming the game and going for the pure mechanical challenge of it, sit back and enjoy the story.

I really liked it. The characters really did have personalities and motivations, Kat being my fave. Don't just focus on strategy. Pull back that focus a bit and allow yourself to recognize everything else.

I know exactly what you mean. There are moments in the campaign, in the first level especially, where you can be part of the story. Sometimes they even space out the members of Noble 6 to give you an "obvious" spot to stand in and take in the story. Moments like when you investigate the first signs of battle, or when you find the civilians hiding in their house or when you find the dead tortured soldiers. There's dialog going on there. I know a lot of people will just sprint through and not pay attention to what is actually happening or skip the cutscenes. I know this is not Oscar worthy story telling here, but if you don't stop to look around and take in your environment and listen to what the other characters are talking about, you're basically just playing firefight.

I think the game remains largely the same from the Beta. It's the playlisting and maps that are to blame for its lack of addictiveness. The gameplay is rock solid.

Fellow pinoy speaks the truth.

And it applies to many games with some semblance of a story. Especailly in shooters, it's almost instinctual to rush through a game to shoot everything in sight as if you're playing multiplayer. It's ok in games like Left 4 Dead. Multiplayer, go for it. There's very little by way of narrative in those cases. But for titles like Halo or Killzone or or Gears or Resistance, you're cheating yourself if you don't ratchet down the hyper fragfest mentality and just let the game's natural pacing guide you through.

It's not a race, it's a balance.
