I find it very wierd that an RTS game is exclusive on a console, I had no idea they were popular enough on consoles to where they would even want to do that! Is anyone really looking forward to this game? I've never heard of an RTS selling very well on consoles, so I'd imagine this game would fail. Maybe they want to make the PC gamers to move over to 360 or something. Either way, I'd imagine this is just a very bad method into trying to milk some more cash out of the HALO Cash Cow!!

what do you guys think will happen?

btw, I'm not bashing 360 users or anything, if I was I'd post this in system wars, so lets not let this turn into some PC vs 360 thread.

Haha, after playing Company of Heroes, Dawn of War, Medieval 2, and Supcom, I have high standards for RTS games now, but sadly, because this is on the 360 I'd imagine the developers trying to dumb down RTS games for people because they are all gonna automatically assume that everyone who buys this game is a total noob to RTS games, and will probably dumb it down to were it will be easier and even more boring then C&C Generals. Probably end up making people who hate RTS, hate it even more.

I generally tend to dislike RTS games, with WC3 being the exception, but I will give Halo Wars a try.

The whole RTS thing isn't insanely popular but Halo is.. and thats why Halo Wars will sell because people like Halo.. That and it'll be on the PC soon, don't worry. Microsoft's exclusve's are usually only timed exclusives.

I love RTS games but one thing that kinda bothers me on the PC is the mouse.

Some people are just insane with that thing. I really like how the console is finding new innovative ways to control the battlefield. I dont know how halo will be but have you seen Endwar?

They use voice command in conjunction with the controller to move the troops around. That's innovative and I think will take the logistical part of the RTS game and boil it down to actual strategy and tactics instead of trying to fumble with the controller and/or mouse.

I'm really looking forward to this

I really find it ridiculously hard to micromanage units without a KB/M :?

Ensemble is a very good dev team tho...if any1 can design a decent control scheme it's them.

I'll reserve judgement until it's released.

I can't pass judgement on consoles ability to do RTS games. CNC3 and BFME2 which are the two major games on 360, both also sucked on PC. Simply, bad games. Anyways, I really like RTS like dawn of war/company of heroes on pc.

I hate the Halo shooters,

but, I'm pretty psyched about a halo RTS,

not because it's halo, because it'll be a huge budget RTS

that they will be under a ton of pressure to make good.

i like RTS games, but am kind of wishing they would quit it with the whole "worship halo or we'll keep making them" thing. not that i didn't enjoy the first 2 halo's for a few months and halo 3 for a couple days, i'm just sick of seeing it everywhere. oh and i agree with the one poster, End War looks insane, i hope it turns out as good as it looks.

I absolutely agree with you. I would never get halo wars unless it had the option to control your troops with voice control. If an rts can get voice commands to work fairly well, I believe that it put any kind of controller or keyboard and mouse in a secondary role. Why sit there and press buttons when you can speak your orders? Real commanders don't sit with keyboards and mouses when they direct their troops, they use voice commands.

Games like BFME and C&C 3 paved the way by showing that good RTS games can be made for the console.Halo Wars is being built from the ground up for the 360 and using lessons learned from those two games. Personally I can't wait to see how the final product turns out.

Well, since about 1 out of every 3 console owners own Halo 3, anything Halo related will definately be a 360 exclusive. Timed exclusive that is. Give it a year or so and you'll see it released for the PC. Same with Halo 3.

I still play Starcraft, but I've been wanting something new. Never played a RTS on a console and I don't think controller will make a difference I've watched gameplay vids of Halo Wars and they have a pretty good system for it. I can't wait to get it and I hope the online community is good for it.

Damn, that's a bad first impression cuz that game SUCKS, you should have tried Company of Heroes.

Regarding endwar: Well yeah I'm looking forward to the voice commands, but it's still not gonna make controllers and keyboards obsolete! People are gonna probably like KB&M mainly because it's easier to micro-manage your units. I haven't seen any videos of 'Endwar' but I'm gonna assume you'll still need a controller of some sort either way. It's not like RTS games aren't strategic (hence 'Real time Strategy') I mean, the perfect example is Company of Heroes, no voice commands at all, and that has the most strategy in any RTS I've seen, and believe me, the list goes on!

Real commanders don't sit with keyboards and mouses when they direct their troops, they use voice commands.

Scalemaster

That's like saying 'Real soldiers don't use controllers, they use guns! Give me a gun and i'll like shooters!' (Hell, I would love that though lol, that's why I like arcade shooters, they got gun controllers.)

I should have noted that I prefer the keyboard and mouse to the controller, but I still firmly believe that the voice commands in endwar will help push the rts genre to the next level if they are done right. It is ignorant for you to assume that I will play rts games becauseI can use my voice. It is also ignorant for you to believe that I think voice commands will make controllers or keboards obsolete which I did not say, that is an incorrect assumption on your part based on assumed facts. They will not make them obsolete, but in terms of consoles, I believe it will bring more people into the rts genre because they won't have to deal with such a steep learning curve as other console rts games, without sacrificing the key elements that make rts games great.

I enjoyed BMFE II but not Command and Conquer, it really just depends how fast it is. Honestly an RTS has to be slower if it is on a console because of the lack of hot keys. Games like Command and Conquer really only get more difficult with the PC while games like BMFE II get better on consoles. I know many people may think I am insane based on my opinions so I explain that yes, I am completely insane.

Yeah they are a little difficult compared to other genres. Its the whole micromanaging. I'm not good at always being aware of every little thing I should be doing while trying to fend off an attacking army.
