hard drive not detected

so i bought the new 360 slim and i have a 250 gb harddrive and when i plugged the transfer cable into the slim it read my harddrive as a 16 gb memory unit now in my old xbox it wont read my hard drive at all ive read that many ppl are having these problems, but ive not come across any solutions if anyone could give give me a detailed solution thatd be greatly appreciated :)

You probably should've started the transfer software first... If it's been formatted like a flash drive, then you can't undo it.

Hey everybody, I know this topic is old but I have a problem of same kind. The first time I opened the hard drive case of my 360S and removed the drive, it hasn't accepted back. I mean I can insert the drive in but 1) it won't be detected 2) console refuses to show the white XBOX 360 screen and just sits there with a green light; controller doesn't connect so techinally the console won't start up.

I'd really appreciate help over this matter.
