I dont think anyone can compete with this.
Dead Rising- 7 day survivor.
You must play for 14 HOURS STRAIGHT WITH NO SAVES. Your health slowly drains, and you must run around killing, and finding food, or you starve to death.
Good luck playing for 14 hours non-stop...without saving...
Some of the Orange Box TF2 achievements are ridiculous, like when they have you try to beat a game type without giving up any control points, or in only 5 minutes. Guitar Hero 3 has some of the most ridiculous achievements too. I have 740 from GH2 and like 120 from GH3
its pretty hard to get the press Start at the start screen achievment on the simpsons game if you dont have a start button
CoD4 was a pain, but I don't think it touts the most difficult achievements becuase I got them all and I'm mediochre at best. For some reason my campaign skills never translate to online MP success; (damn you Halo and Gears! I'm great at the SP games; why must I be consistanly pwned online?!?)
The Orange Box offers some nice "endurance" ones that are fairly difficult but don't require damaging your physical and mental health:
"Little Rocket Man": requires that you carry a garden gnome with you through the ENTIRE campaign and launch him into orbit during the games final minutes. I named him "Reggie" and formed an odd attachment to him after several hours of grueling "dammit, I dropped Reggie" or "dammit, where the hell's Reggie?" much like Tom Hanks' attachment to "Wilson" in Castway. I was sorry to see him go...
"One Free Bullet": requires you play the entire campaign shooting ONLY ONE TIME. Not an easy feat in a FPS, no doubt. (Hint: the one bullet is required to shoot off a pad lock!)
I don't know about the hardest, but the Little Rocket Man achievement was aggravating for me. MsCortana
Agreed..Im not even gonna try that one. :P

No! It's not THAT bad, it's more time-consuming than anything. The hardest part is getting him past the Guardian Antlion in the caves and keeping him in the car during the "car" levels. A few tactics:
Set "Reggie" down somewhere, mop up baddies then go pick him up. He doesn't need to be right next to you the entire time!
Save OFTEN.
In the car, wedge Reg through the back window so that he's laying down parallel to the length of the car; he'll pop out every now and again, but far less often than if you try to prop him up in the back seat; yeah, don't even bother trying to keep him in the back seat; he won't stay there long and Alyx is far to self-involved to hold him in her lap... (Sure, you're saving the world, and she can't even help out with lawn fixtures.)
During one of the acts with the Guardian Antlion (the part where it blocks your path around the huge stalactite(gmite, whichever) and chases you,) you'll want to LAUNCH Reggie ahead of you so you can sprint, but make sure he lands in such away that you can suck him back up with the gravgun from the saftey of cover a few steps ahead. SAVE before this, you will be here a while.
Everything else is just: drop Reg, kill bad guys, pick Reg up and proceed.

Yeah, go for it; it's a small price to pay to claim one of the (if not THE) most lucrative Achievement in a game that boast 99 of 'em! Pat yourself on the back when you're done and try not to think on the fact that you just played a classic FPS with a gnome blocking 3/4 of your screen 90% of the time  ! Enjoy!

The Orange Box: (Bundled: Half-Life 2, Episodes 1 & 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2)
My vote for most difficult achievement: "Obtain the relic weapon" from Final Fantasy XI. That is such a rarity. You may have a better chance bringing us world peace than than getting a relic weapon in Final Fantasy XI.
First of all, you'll be paying monthly fees for all this time and investment for this achievement. Then if you are dedicated and are stripped of every game possible, you might have a chance to reach level 75. That means you'll sacrafice a lot of time trying to level up. You'll be spending just as many hours leveling up as you will be spending looking for group. If you happen to get high enough in levels, then you need items to enter Dynamis. If you ever get accepted to go to Dynamis, you better not wipe. If your team does wipe, getting that weapon won't happen. IF your team beats Dynamis (good luck), pray for YOUR cursed weapon to drop. You need a cursed weapon to begin getting a relic weapon (good luck with the horrible drop rates). Then you have to win the item from other players that want it too. If you are lucky enough to win the roll to get the cursed weapon, then you should probably go Vegas. After winning your cursed weapon, you need a sh*tload of gil in order to get certain items for it (making money in FFXI isn't easy). I'll stop there because the steps are too tedious and lengthy. And in the end, it'll be the hardest 40 GP you'll ever earn.
Little rocket man isn't hard, you just have to remember to keep picking the gnome up. The only tricky part is when you're chased by the chopper, but that only takes a couple of minutes.
The hardest achievement in Orange Box by far is Aperture Science in Portal - complete all challenge maps on Gold. Think COD4 Mile High Club, buy instead of just one level frustrating you, there are 18 to get through.
Overall Orange Box is fairly easy for achievements, especially when you consider they can all be done with the difficulty set to Easy, with God mode enabled, all weapons cheat, and most of the TF2 multiplayer achievements can be got in a solo match.
Dead Rising has some of the hardest achievements to get.
Zombie Genocider - Kill 53,594 zombies in a single playthrough
Transmissionary - Answering all calls from Otis - you have to play very well to be able to get all of the calls, let alone answer them in the middle of combat
7 day survivor - as mentioned above requires a very long stint playing the game in one go

Kidding, never played FFXI, but that sounds like a pain. D'you get it?
Chromehounds has 6 achievements based on being #1 on leaderboards :?Avenger1324

LMAO! puking  *wipe* LMAO again!!!
Yea, high mile club on COD4 is the hardest one, 1 mintue to get to the VIP on that difficutly is nuts, the rest of the game was ok, not to hard, but DEFINETLEY not easy at all
"Seriously" on Gears, is juss tedious, when u dont play the game for a while and get rusty, its hard to get a kill online
"No Life" on Command & Conquer 3, is also tedious, trying to find sumone to have a long battle is hard, most ppl are 15 to 20 min players, and either quit early, or get beaten by me to quickly

Sounds like me after putting up the last of the 1000 in CoD4... I was happy, but, man I needed therapy after that mess.

you know you can leave the gnome where sheckly and griggs are instead of taking it to the antlion guards den
some of the PG3 acheivements can be pretty hard unless your really good at racing games or European

Yeah, but you have to be careful where you put your little friend. When I left him in the garage whilst they were repairing the car he was gone when I came back. DO NOT PUT HIM ON THE TABLE!I don't know about the hardest, but the Little Rocket Man achievement was aggravating for me. MsCortana
i agree...i thought it was going to ruin the experience for the game so i said no to the gnome acheive
also those orange box tf2 achieves arent too hard, the only 1 i dont have is theh 10 kills with 1 turret
well in team fortress its pretty easy what I did was log off live (yes is very very nooby) and host a match playing by yourself easy achivementsSome of the Orange Box TF2 achievements are ridiculous, like when they have you try to beat a game type without giving up any control points, or in only 5 minutes. Guitar Hero 3 has some of the most ridiculous achievements too. I have 740 from GH2 and like 120 from GH3
GuitarsOfWarr
The hardest achievement that I, personally, have gotten would have to be beating the Perfect Dark Zero single player on Dark Agent.
I think I was ranked #3 in the world for the second last level.
Guitar Hero 3 and the 99, 000000 thingy. Then beating Enchanted Arms achievement. Not like people care, but that is to date the hardest boss in any jrpg i have played.
Cod4 was hard, but i got em all. The plane was hard, but no fighting in the war room achievement on vet was the hardest
id definately say either keep off the sand (only use grav gun for a specific level, i cant remember, on half life)
or saint, the stupid AI....stupid, stupid AI.
most annoying i thought was mile high club, because it took at least 40 tries, and when i finally got it, it was basically a glitch cuz i only killed one or two dudes and am surprised i didnt die, and when i went to headshot the assasin, there were like 3 badguys in the room it was weird.
lol you guys forgotten crackdown? I STILL HAVE 499 ORBS! WTF!Ligh_warrior
that is a annoying achievement
that game gets annoying after playing too much, me and a buddy still havent beaten it on like the last boss, we just got too tired of the gameplay

TF2 achievements are easy i got all of them in about a week but GH3 does have some insane achievements
