Has anyone here played any of the Devil May Cry games?

I was going to get 4 for either the XBOX or the PC but I wasnt sure if I should play the earlier ones because of the storyline. Does 4 have a good story? I LOVE a good story.

the first one has probably the best story, but 4 is best for gameplay in my opinion... the story is alright in 4, but the older ones have a better story. if you're looking for a game similar but MUCH faster/better* gameplay, check out bayonneta.

Devil may cry 3 is the bees kness in my opinion. It's one of my favorite games of all time, and had a great story and was about as fast and crazy as PS2 got. I say check it out, I liked it even more than 4.

You DO NOT want to get the DMC for the story. It's throw away stuff, with some impressive over the top cinematics. You do want to get the game for its awesome free-style combat flow. Once you realize that pretty much every move at your disposal can be strung up together to make some impressive combos, it becomes quite an addicting and highly replayable series.

If you can, start with the first one, because it's harder to go back after seeing the improvements done with 3. DMC4 makes for a good start as well, it's made easy enough for new people to break into the series.

Above all, do not get Devil May Cry 2. That game is terrible and doesn't really follow the same guidelines from 1,3-4.

DMC is amazing and at least you should play DMC3 and DMC, don't play DMC2 because it sucks, and bayonetta is a good game but if you aren't into anime stuff you are not gonna like it(that's what happened with me).

If you like action games to any degree, I think it's worth giving DMC an honest try. If not, then you might as well steer clear. The Devil May Cry series isn't really known for story. You might as well youtube some of the cutscenes to get an idea of what it's like.

You would be missing out on an excellent game if you didn't check it out.
