My interest has declined as of late. Honestly the only "must have" game for me this year is Mass Effect 3, compared to other years when I would usually have planned on getting at least 10 games.

Try taking a break from them and then come back to them at a later time. I recently got Netflix and have been watching a lot of TV shows, it's a nice change from playing games.

I think so, too. They just took down 3rd Rock from the Sun, which I was having a blast with.

well games are getting worse, but some of the ones you listed as "didnt like" are some of my favorites of all time, arkham city and fallout were both great...as for games you do like, im not a huge fan of mgs myself so by the looks of it, you are outgrowing games

Neither, man games are just getting repetitive because everything is a sequel now. So everything has that I've done this before feeling. Not many game developers are taking risk. Everything you playhas a 3 at the end of it's title right now.

[QUOTE="conmbo2"]Hi Everyone, Just joined here... Im always viewing threads so I thought I'd Join. I'm 28 and I find it harder and harder to find a video game that I enjoy. Anyone else have the same problem? I can play about 5 minutes of Gears of War 3 Campaign before I am bored out of my mind... its so repetitive. Games I loved: Uncharted Series MGS Series Heavy Rain (beat it three times) HL Series Battlefield BC and 3 Alan Wake Mass Effect Series (Favorite Xbox games) Bioshock Games I play and I like : Dark Souls (Even though the game is impossible) Fifa 12 Left 4 Dead Games I do not like or cant get into get into Batman Arkham City Killzone 2 (I know its a ps3 title) Red Dead Redemption Fallout Halo Crysis Madden Next Gen Series is terrible Sorry I could of made that list go on and on... I just thought maybe someone would have a similar taste. Can Anyone recommend a game for me? Matt

I'm 25 and used to game regularly until maybe 6 years ago. Then I just started losing interest in games. I still play them to some extent because I don't think games are getting worse (on the contrary) but I don't mind the fact that I stopped investing lots of time and money in games. The week between Christmas and New Year I clocked in about 30 hours of gaming, haven't touched a single game since. It's not something that's weird or permanent or anything. Game when you feel like gaming, don't game when you don't feel like it. And when you do feel like it, pick a game you want to play and not one that someone else tells you to play because he thinks it's awesome.

Happened to me and my friend. We were absolutely addicted to gaming I loved it. Then I started going to the gym a year ago and got super dedicated. A couple months ago I looked down at my Xbox and my games and realized I had all the top games and hated every single one. I never have fun with games anymore. I haven't turned on my Xbox in months. I miss it but I just can't have fun with them anymore.

I used to be able to play long games.... Games like Fallout Skyrim.... ect... now I do not have the time or patience so I get p'd off if a game is taking to long like Red Dead Redemption.... Borderlands... It all felt too boring... traded them in and got some multiplayer games like BF3 and CoD and I play online now....

Yea, I play my 3DS and 360 the most. When I get bored with whatever library I have on my Xbox and play all the Nintendo titles on other platforms and come back after a few weeks of give and take. Owning multi-platforms helps a bit

I am also 28 years of age, and I am finding it harder to get hyped up about video games anymore....that doesn't mean that there aren't any games that aren't interesting, though. Some of the games you are interested in are games I am interested in as well...however, it baffles me as to why you wouldn't like Fallout. It also depends on which Fallout you are playing. Although, I truly see your point....there really isn't that many games out there that strike my fancy.... I wouldn't say that it's that you outgrown games, though, I would say that you have higher expectations in a game because of how much experience in gaming you have or how long you have played. I don't know, it's almost like finding a new band/genre of music to like because you're stuck listening to what you are used to. I still experience and try go find games that seem interesting...it helps to get feedback on what people say would be interesting, but only you, yourself can judge what is best for you. Just keep trying and hang in there, you will find what you like... I have not lost hope. If anything exert it into another interest in the meantime, I would say. There's also E3 coming up to look forward to. Oh, and Good luck.

I enjoyed fallout 3 but only the straight campaign but it was very short... I just didn't think it was amazing like everyone else did... Someone wrote about the games that take a lot to invest into... I have a similar problem unless I KNOW it will be good like MGS or Mass Effect... Thanks for all the insight

im 53, been playing games since atri, i think it had game called pong or something like that, i remember when grand tourishmo first came out for psone, it was new and was such a new experience, also dino crisis, at the time they looked so good and fun to play, today we have advanced so much that there is not the wow factor like back then and it takes alot to excite, i know there are alot of games today that are good, all im saying is in my case i remember how special that feeling was years ago and its harder to match, im trying to make myself just not be so critical of what im playing and if there is enough good i just except it and remember that living life for my child is what is the main thing to feel good about

You are welcome. Thanks for explaining about Fallout 3. I guess I understand why you would feel that way....I never did just take the main story route nor did I ever think of it that way. Thank you for the perspective.

I hear you. I find that when i do nothing but play video games over the course of a weekend, by the time sunday afternoon rolls around, i feel like video games are really boring. Usually i dont play all that many games during the week though, so by the time the next weekend comes around, im ready to game it up again. It also helps to bring my xbox over to a friends house where we can have an ultimate mancave setup which gets me really pumped and then i dont get as bored. try spicing up your gaming life i guess and that might help to make you less bored with them

I am in one of those funks now. Most games I play just feel boring. I notice my patience is getting worse. I almost feel like I have to force my self to play a game now, and I don't think I will ever have the patience to play on the hardest difficulties like I used to.

I would have thought with higher energy levels from running and the gym you would enjoy games even more, but play them slightly less. I think it has a lot to do with your persistence to learn.

You may have outgrow videogames. I am 39 years i still play. I notice that it is hard for me to start playing sometimes. To get into a game, takes time. Something I don't always have.

Videogames getting worse? That depends on individual viewpoint. I would suggest taking a break from gaming. Your only 28 years old so you need a break and do something else.

For me I will always enjoy gaming. Since I have always and still do playing videogames. (I will quit when Sony releases Playstation 9!)

I know how you feel, I used to be able to play 12 hours straight, now I can only play for seven or so; I'm also no longer taking ritilan so that may be a factor (har har har...)

The fact you like Heavy Rain alot says alot. Part of me thinks you're looking for something different. The rest of the games you listed shows you looking for games with great narrative although you find Red Dead and Batman not in that mix. I don't have alot of time so I like playing games that I can quickly get into and jump out anytime. Here are some worth dabbling into: 1. Limbo 2. L.A. Noire 3. Dead Space 4. Dead Space 2 5. Deus Ex: Human Revolution 6. Catherine 7. inFamous 8. Prototype I also recommend playing the older game from Quantic Dream (makers of Heavy Rain). It's called Indigo Prophecy.

It's ridiculous to think that games are getting worse. I can't get enough of the latest games. There have been a lot of sequels that didn't live up to expectations though, but you can only expect that when half of their staff leaves to do new projects, or new developers take over (which perfectly describes what's happened to CoD coincidentally). I played through Enslaved and Vanquish over the last week or two, and I can tell you they were excellent. Mass Effect was very impressive too, I'm playing through it for the third time round, this time on insanity. It gave us a simple wheel to make descisions with. Back in the days of PC rpgs, you'd have to read through huge text options to select what you want to say, I think the decision wheel was a major improvement. Super Street fighter IV has been one of the greatest fighting games released, it spiked a rebirth in the popularity of fighting games. The graphics quality has progressed so much, and standards for games have increased too. Nobody will touch 2D games anymore, no matter how good they look. It's just the flow of sequels that has occurred that gives new developers a chance to make games that will still make profits and let the developers gain some experience. xDeadMarchx

I get tired with alot of sequels too, like Gears of War 2, most Call of Duty sequels, Fallout NV, and Mass Effect 2. Sometimes it's because I played the original game so much, and sometimes it's because the sequels just aren't as good.. Some sequels still blow me away though, like The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Dead Space 2, Starcraft 2, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction to name a few.. I find that going back and forth between console and PC gaming helps keep me interested in videogames. Playing unorthodox games, like Plants versus Zombies, between playing major titles seems to help keep me interested in gaming too...

i think its the latter, because this is happening to a noticeable amount of people compared to 6-8 years ago. i would never see this posted on the forums back in 05-06. i also never have seen people just stop gaming and take up doing nothing instead, which surprisingly, has happened to several of my irl and e-friends. the state of the over-sensationalism, dirty tactics involving pushing out incomplete games with pre-planned DLC to sort-of "fill the voids", and the overall lack of quality in the areas that made gaming so special to us over the years are all pretty typical reasons as to why people just aren't enjoying their games as much. the increasing number of games with day one DLC, online passes, invasive DRM, lack of polish, lack of innovation, and overall lack of quality moments are just signs of what's to come

You just have to find the right game. Or take some time away from them until you crave them again. That's what I do a lot. I will buy a game and not be interested in it for whatever reason, then come back to it a few months (or years) later and love it. That's what happened when I got Bioshock. I got that game when it was released and just beat it last year, several years after its release. It was an amazing game when I finally decided to play it.
