@i_p_daily: The achievements are a very good progress tracking and record keeping system. If you need to know if and when you played a certain game you only have to look at the achievements and everything comes back to you instantly. That is why I like it. If you haven't got all the achievements it means you haven't explored all the game has to offer (provided the developers have distributed them intelligently of course). So I go get them but haven't got 100% in any game yet. That takes too much time. I'm happy with 60%.
Very few achievements are well thought out by devs, most rely on difficulty and collectables with little else thrown in.
The bolded part made me lol, i play for fun first and then go back and go for the full 100% and i have a LOT of 100% games, and i could never settle for 60%, to me that's like saying yeah my footy team lost but at least they scored a try :P
The achievements that are placed as milestones make the most sense for me, while the ones that are put behind some impossible task just for difficulty's sake are a chore but feel good when you get them, so I can see the reasoning behind that. What game in your opinion has the best thought-out achievements?
I like your approach, I have a similar one. Yes, I know, 60% may not be very impressive but I'm a lightweight compared to you from what I see. For me 60% is a good distance considering I don't finish some games as I loose interest along the way and don't want to revisit. One example is "Metro Last Light". I wonder if you usually feel any interest in a game you got 100% on later on?

I'll usually play a game through, then, if I really enjoyed it, I'll go get those achievements. I've only really done this with a few games though; Fallout 3, Dying Light, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 3, and Just Cause 3.
You see I do the opposite. If I didn't enjoy a game I'll try to get all the achievements so I can just forget it with a clear conscience. I haven't done that yet but I try. It's not easy. On the other, if I really liked a game I'll try to savor those achievements and stretch their consumption over the longest possible time.
First off i wasn't laughing at your 60% as such just that only 60% would drive me crazy, so sorry if i came acrooss as a douche there my bad.
No game comes to mind that has a great list because every game throws out the usual stuff just in varying degrees, but i liked the way they did the achievements in the first 2 Call of Juarez games. Certain games will have achievements that really are an achievement when you get them as they require a lot of skill, and are very satisfying when achieved.
I've noticed that most games will give out an easy 600g, 300g would be medium to get and the last 100g would be hard, sure it doesn't work like all the time, but to me with what i play it seems to :(
As for going back to games once i 100% them, well yes i do, games like Just Cause 3 & Forza Horizon 3 for examples i still play even though i'm long past getting 100% on them.
