I have one of the original xboxs from when it was first released. And I just got a new LCD screen that provides true Full HD instead of the interlaced garbage. But when I'm playing on the samsung 52 inch screen it looks horrible. I tagged fallout 3 on the xbox right next to it's PC brother flipped between them and the color was completely off on the xbox. I got a newer solid component cable thinking maybe the cheap microsoft standard that came with it was starting to crap out. And it did help. But the color is still very noticable. I'm curious if HDMI's digital signal will help remove the distorted color. I really don't like looking at Fallout from my PC and Fallout from my xbox and noticing how much garbarge the 360 version is. Because the xbox is my gold ticket. Least it was. Thanks for any help.

If you have money and you can shell out some for an Arcade, then go for it. But it isn't really worth buying a new system. It's all up to your budget/agenda. If you're having issues with color then my best advice would be to adjust your color settings (seriously). The only thing HDMI really enhances is sharpness and "grainy- ness". It may help your color issue, but I'm not entirely sure. It just might. Firstly, though, try adjusting as many settings on your TV as possible, if you haven't done so already.

Interlaced is actually worse than 720p ( that is if you are talking about 1080i) aside from being able to pay at 1080p, black colors will be more defined and the game will def be sharper, though im not sure if its worth buying a new 360

Thanks. I have been fiddling with the settings: color, contrast, and brightness. Been at it since the day it was installed. For my videos and for the satellite it looks alright. And when I put the PC into it, it was okay. It only seems the xbox has issues. I guess I could manually adjust it, it just makes me angry. Having to have a completely different setting just for the 360 when everything else runs smoothly. I saw a few trailers on gametrailers.com, especially one that shows the PC next to the xbox. And the colors looked the same as mine: flat. It's what really had me seeing red.

Yes. I had an old 1080i. It cut off parts of the screen when I was playing games like GTA4. The minimap would be cut in 3/4s. But I also read somewhere that the origional component cable that came with the xbox elite package also doesn't fully support 1080p. I thought this was odd considering it allowed you to on the options settings. Which is why I went back and replaced it with a rocketfish one. And it did help.

lol. Thank you. I get the feeling your brother in law is not very high in your opinion. Yes. I wondered that as well. I set it and changed it a few times to make sure it was actually outputing 1080p. It is.

i was just making sure, try setting it to 720p and see if it looks better, i dont think the component cables are the best option for 1080p :) ( though it might look stretched out since your TV is probably 1080p native)

It's as I was thinking. HDMI is the better option. But the idea of buying a whole new system doesn't make me very happy. I might try 720p as my new resolution. I've played in it before with my PC and it is a notable downgrade in quality compared to the 1080p, but if it takes care of some fo the color issue it might be worth it.

Give it a shot, but t`ll probably look as bland is it did on your HDTV, if you are willing to spend a bit more, and get an arcade, do so, since HDMI cables cost around 5 bucks on ebay, digital image FTW

I have the Component cable(Microsoft one) that can be bought in the shops and it works fine,I see no reason for splashing out on better cables, even just a more expensive Component one never mind a HDMI. Also component cables have been found to give a crisper sound and I know because I've used both HDMI and compenent on my 360 hooked up to a 50 inch 1080p Pioneer Plasma and full surround sound and found no difference in picture but the sound seemed less crisp... Just remember the sound factor.:D

I also compared 720p to 1080i and 1080p and found a big difference between 720p and 1080i(1080i being the better),however no difference between 1080i and 1080p,only when playing Forza going in an excess of 200 mph did the interlaced begin to seem inadequate but besidess that 1080i seemed fine...

not true at all 720p is actually better then 1080i, interelanced is actually known for causing problems with LCD screens, its interleced scanning, which lags specially when an object is moving, since interelaced even or odd, whichever one it choses first, when we have fast moving objects, certain parts will look out of place, in other words, no LCDs or plasma TVs would benefit from this

You all are right. I walked in not wanting to buy a whole lot of stuff for myself. Not what's needed right now. I might just fiddle around with what I got, since HDMI doesn't seem to be that big of an upgrade.
