Ok so quick question.  If my HDTV only goes up to 1080i/740p but it does have a HDMI port, then will I be able to see any difference using the Elite 360 with the HDMI cable compared to the Premium verson with just the Component cables.  Thanks Guys.

The difference is only visible on 46in TVs and up....and it's such a small difference that you would need to be really, really observant to notice....so basically you'll be wasting your money....just use the system you have....

The color is not different....if your TV is setup properly both cables should show the same color data....

And the audio is not better unless you are running HDMI to an HDMI reciever....if your using optical to your speakers there is no difference...and if you are using the TVs built in speaker than both options sound the same, which is to say like crap....cause built in TV speakers are crappy.....

That doesn't really mean it's better....you can do 1080p with the VGA cable, too.

Your imagining it.....or your TV has separate settings for each input and they are set differently for component and HDMI....so it seems like they are different but if you set each input the same, they would look the same...
What is your model of TV and how do you have the sound plugged in?

Ok you're just completely wrong, because Virtua Tennis 3 is the first game to use 1080p True Native resolution on the Xbox 360....it was even a news item on gamespot....look it up....

The 360 COULD output a 1080P picture for a game, however there aren't any games that have this format in their support list as of now. The 360 however will upconvert the games to this signal. Later games could be 1080P, based on your post you are acting as if its a limitation of the 360 itself and its not. Its post like yours that mislead people because you arent being clear in your point. The difference in the HDMI port is its digital, the existing port in the 360 is analog. Whether you hook up VGA or Component it is an analog signal. Personally I think Digital signals produces a better, clearer picture.

Digital Signals are better but only over long distances....an anolog signal at a short distance is close to/equal to a digital signal at a short distance....that's why you don't see any difference until you get to TVs using 46in and 1080i/p....in fact if you use a high quality analog cable (like Monster or Audio Quest) there is actually no difference on 46in and up TVs, because the cables are shielded so well that there is no loss in signal...

Sounds like the Sony marketing machine got to him. 1080p = "true" HD and the 360 can't do it? Flat out false.
