How do I get the new Xbox 360 Slim?

Apparently Gamestop is all tapped out of the new consoles where I live and everywhere around me is on back order. I wanted to exchange my current 360 for the deal that Gamespot is promoting, but they won't take it unless they have the new consoles which they won't have until the deal is expired. Has anyone figured out a solution to this for those of us that didn't have the chance to jump on the deal on day one?

Wait until they ACTUALLY come out with a 360 that Microsoft calls a SLIM. An Inch or two shorter doesn't mean its "slim".
