Lol, I'm surprised this got revived.
Anyways, after I wrapped it in a blanket for 15 minutes and got 2 red lights, nothing happened. In fact, I havn't noticed any problems with it yet. Even after the towel trick, I left it running for 6 hours on two different occasions and still nothing.
Turn it on and leave it in a enclosed area. I have 2. I have a premium which I have had since launch with no problems.I have the core(for my kids), which fell subject to the RROD in just 3 months. The difference was that I keep my premium on a stand by itself next to my HDTV. The core was in a entertainment center where the heat couldn't escape. So I would suggest maybeplacing some towels around it and leaving it running, but like the other guys have said, do not burn your house down!godzillavskong
i've had mine since launch and have had it very well ventillated, but since around sept. it stopped reading the disk everyonce in a while and know it wont read them period. and the only way for me to get it fixed for free is through the warranty, and i need the RRoD. Tomorrow is the day i kill my 360.
I'm glad you bumped this thread. I missed it. Got many good laughs out of it.
The best way to get RROD is to stand your xbox up vertically. It blocks the main vent in the entire 360. Or just smother it in something. I have a Best Buy 2 year warranty, so I will be killing my Xbox before 2 years runs out to get a brand new one.
The guy who said he kept getting the RROD but it kept going away, I'm still almost in tears reading that. So damn funny. What an opposite side of the normal spectrum. Good stuff.
Towel it. I did this and it killed it. Although karma bit me in the ass when my repaired 360 RRoD after I recoverd my account. Was kinda funny.
Is it freezing? Next time it freezes just turn off your tv and take a nap. When you wake up restart your xbox and BOOM! 3 red rings. That's what I did. Make sure you request a console back that has an HDMI port. Gesyma
It seems they still make ones with out the HDMI. My current 360 is a replacement and has an 08 birthdate but no HDMI.
I am having the exact same problem. I have had problems once again with my xbox thinking that cd's are dvd's and my disc tray will not open. So we took a great air capturer, saran wrap. We then put tin foil after all the air vents (especially the one in the back). It will show the 2 rings because of overheating, so I sat by my computer doing something else while constantly turning the xbox on after every time it turned off. I have 1 sheet of saran wrap, tin foil covering the system, 3 plastic bags, and a huge blanket.
Ivv gone on for 2 hours now and when i took it out it felt like I had taken a pan out of the oven. I smelt some bad burning electronic too. Turned this baby on, perfectly fine. Congrats microsoft, its fireproof..... :
Dangit i want this RROD!
Just call microsoft and tell them that you got the 3 red lights and they will take it for repairs. My friend's console was getting one red light and he called them and said that he got rrod, and they didn't even ask any questions, they just sent him a box and in a couple weeks he got a refurbished one back and a free month of live.
That's also suggested by this guy:

Now this is indeed sneaky but we here at SOGamer understand that we don't have Microsoft reading our blog, instead we have you, the consumer so here's a helpful tip. If you at first call Microsoft about an issue not rrod related like the disc not being read and they say it's "out of warranty", wait two days and call them again only this time say that you have the red ring of death or "three flashing red lights and the system doesn't turn on". Since Microsoft is being extra generous to people who have a rrod system, it only makes sense that if you're have any of the following issues with your machine and can't get it replaced under the normal 1 year warranty, that you also try getting it under the 3 year extended warranty.
Issues Microsoft Can Fix Under This Sneakiness Are:
Towel it. I did this and it killed it. Although karma bit me in the ass when my repaired 360 RRoD after I recoverd my account. Was kinda funny.

The consoles they send back are not new consoles, they are refurbished.
I had a similar problem. Started with greenish flickering graphics, ended up with screen going black with white dots streaking across. Micro$oft claimed that since my console isn't under full warranty I had to pay $140+ to fix. Decided to force the RROD, which took about a week, but finally worked and I now have 3 blinking red lights which M$ support has agreed to repair free of charge. Its simple:
1)Towel the console whenever possible. I overheated mine about six times during the week (Which by the way also temporarily fixed the white dots problem for about 24 hrs. each time.)
2) Leave console running when not in use as long as humanly possible, without burning your house to the ground (preferably with HD and any game removed). I left mine on and woke up one morning to finally see the RROD blinking after approx. 6 days. IT REALLY WORKS GUYS!!!MastaKilla001
And to think, we're intentionally inducing the RROD when some poor chap off the street just gets it one day.
