Just wondering if I am the only person who does this. When I finish player, I usually go to the main screen, then I exit to the dashboard, and then I shut down the Xbox when all the noises stop. I guess, its just the Windows in me with having to follow that shutdown prodcedure.

Everybody else I know just hits the power button during the game when they want to stop. I know it probably does not hurt it at all, but for some reason seing that always makes me cringe.

Anyone else?

I always use my controller... I am too lazy to get up and go to the actual box xD. And I figure if you go thru the controller menu to shut down your box its a lil bit less "barbaric" than just pushing power.

^^ same i just hold center of controller then switch off, i'm pretty sure microsoft new people would just push power and stuff, so that system shuts down slowly and in order so that nothing is damaged, i'm fully positivenothing will happen by pressing power on the box, i am just too lazy as well

Go to the main menu screen of the game, then press the power button on my Logitech Harmony remote to turn everything off at once.

I always turn it on and off from the controller, and it doesn't matter what I'm in the middle of. If I want to turn off the console, I'll do it mid-game. In fact, I actually can't remember the last time I turned the machine on by hitting its switch.

Keep in mind that if you shut it down and you still hear it running then it is in low power mode, most likely downloading a file you told it to get or charging up your controller.

I never go up to my 360, I turn it on and off with my controller. And currently Two Worlds is in the tray so I have no need to switch discs.

I felt the same way but just hold the home button for like 5 seconds and it gives you the option to shut down.

I know about holding the home button down. The reason why I always hit the home button then Y to exit to the dash then I push the button or hold the home button to turn it off.

But I ALWAYS bring it back to the dashboard before I shut if off. Its just a habbit I guess I have from the Windows OS. Probably since its a MS product, and somewhat operates like a PC, I feel its safer to shut it down like that instead of it precessing loads amount of information. (Like the Windows: Start>Shutdown>Saveing settings>Off)

I usually exit to the dashboard then either use the controller or the actual power button. I just don't like shutting it off when the disc is running for some reason. Though I don't think it even affects anything if you do.
