[QUOTE="Soul_to_Squeeze"][QUOTE="warz989"]rent it first...some people love it and others hate it. That and its really short in my opinion, not as long as oblivion.warz989
lol well duh its not as long as oblivion, bioshock is not an rpg. so if ur gonna compare it to rpg's then its short, but as far as shooters go, its about one of the longest. if u dont play on easy and dont rush through the game, u should atleast get around 20 hours out of it. im playin on hard and i explore every part of each area, and ive probly put about 22 hours into it, im gettin towards the end, but its not a short game. comparing the length of a shooter to the length of an rpg, especially a really long rpg like oblivion, is just stupid. oh and bioshock is an amazing game. one of my top 5 of all time
Ok we know who the bioshock fanboy is.
btw this game shouldnt even be classified as a shooter because when you compare it to other shooter games like halo, call of duty, gears of war, and vegas...its terrible. Dont tell me its the longest shooter either, because clearly you havent played gears of war on insane, call of duty 3 on veteran, and call of duty 2 on veteran. Ive also heard that vegas realistic is long as well. This game is more of a rpg LIKE oblivion than anything else even though its ranked as a shooter.
Unless it's your first time through on GoW, Insane should take less than 10 hours. Call of Duty 2 doesn't take too long on veteran either. Lastly, RB6 on realistic is barely harder than normal and won't take very long at all. Bioshock should be longer, unless you play on easy, and haul *** through the entire game.

YOU CAN NOT COMPARE A "PURE" RPG GAME TO A FPS GAME WITH "LIMITED" RPG ELEMENTS. This is especially when in comparison for the total length of a game.
thank u, someone knows what theyre talking about
What's pure by your definition because its quite a broad one. One cant just break things down to "pure" and "limited" when talking about a hybrid game such as this. But if thats how you want to play it, this game was "pure" garbage in terms of lengthand "limited" in terms of replay value. Its hard to understand when your a "fanboy" as you claimed earlier because your so devoted to loving the game and looking past all the negative points and comparisons. Your fighting MY opinion so ardently because you are a "fanboy" just like this other kid talking about "pure" and "limited".
warz989 you sir DO NOT know anything about games and if you dont understand the simple concept of the difference between a PURE RPG game and a game with LIMITED RPG ELEMENTS, then I have nothing else to say to you. Overall, there is no point in this arguement as mostly everyone here DOES NOT agree with you. What would I be a fanboy of? I am not sure why you are calling me a fanboy as this is not related to System Wars between lets say the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Ya all those games you mentioned take normal people with lives and responsibilities a long time to get throughwarz989
Alright now it's just looking like your argument is doing a 360.
You compared Oblivion to Bioshock in length. Several things wrong with this. Bioshock is a linear game that constantly urges you to move forward. Oblivion is an open-world free-roam game that doesn't stop you from doing anything you want, with hundreds and hundreds of side quests to waste time on. Bioshock has no side quests. Bioshock has an ending. Oblivion doesn't. Get the picture?

Dude, not many games are as long as Oblivion. The heck are you talking about. Although you are right some people love it and some hate it. But 20 hours is not short imo, when most games nowadays are under 12 hours. It is an FPS after all, not an RPG, so 20 hours is amazingly long. And I guarantee you that you will go through this game 2-3 times, at least to see all the endings. So a good 50 hours at least out of this game. I would definitely get this game dude.

I dont know anything about games??? Have you looked down below??? I have playedall the games in depth that I am talking about. Actually...you can turn around anytime you want in the game (especiallyw when u become a big daddy) and walk around through every level exploring and killing. An unorthodox, but yet still open world. Your statement about oblivion letting you do what ever you want is an exaggeration. AND the biggest whole in your arguement is that oblivion has an ending, remember the whole bit where your trying to put the rightful heir in power??? Probably not because you sound like you havent completed the game. Play the game before you talk about it kid ok or get the facts straight.
Its the sorta game that people who've played it will have an instant bond. 'Wasnt that plot twist good!?' Or 'I cant belive when this happened' or 'Would you kindly...eh! Would you kindly?'Devils_Joker_22
Would you all kindly step away from the keyboard and go play Bioshock!
Above quoted for truth! loved it!

I'm not trying to start a fight with you, but there is no way Oblivion can be compared to Bioshock in terms of length. Oblivion main pro is its side quests (over a hundred, but I may be wrong), while Bioshock is a pretty linear game with the exception of a few side quests. Yes, Bioshock as a FPS is not very exciting and action-packed when compared to a game like R6V, and I see how you are comparing the two games, but Bioshock's mostly linear gameplay prevents it from ever being classifed as an RPG.
YOU HAVEN"T EVEN FINISHED THE GAME!!!!!!!!!! I JUST REALIZED THAT!!!!!!

Sounds like you are a Oblivion fanboy then :P The line between shooters, action adventure, and RPG's is getting blurred now days. They are right though, Oblivion is a RPG with like 3 years development time, and Bioshock is an adventure/shooter look at the game description on Gamespot. As far as shooter and action/adventure games go, Bioshock has about the normal length to complete.
you cant compare bioshock to oblivion. i spent over 160 hours playing oblivion and it was designed as a fully immersive RPG. Bioshcok has RPG elements but it is far from a full fledgedRPG in design and intent. It was intended to alter the concept of what an FPS is and it accomplished exactly that. The game is very enjoyable from start to finsih as far as graphics/story/gameplay/sound are concerned. If you have a 360 you absolutely must pick up this game. jayfi33
You just did compare the two though...you just contradicted your first sentence with the next two.
[QUOTE="warz989"]It's not an opinion. Your wrong. With the casual shooters you named you probably don't know an RPG from a platformer. Why do you keep calling me stupid bro, grow up, name calling is for 5 year olds...its my opinion about a game

Um ya it is...and in my opinion I am right...in your opinion...im wrong. You dont know the difference between opinion and absolute fact.
I think you CAN compare an FPS like Bioshock to an RPG like Oblivion....just like you CAN compare apples to oranges: they're both edible fruit, but the similarities end there. No one expects, however, that those qualities of the apple be present in the orange and vise versa. Just like, although there are VERY limited RPG elements in Bioshock, no one SHOULD expect the missing qualities of an RPG to be present in Boshock, such as length of play. The comparison is ridiculous even though a comparison CAN be made. \
EDIT for TP: Bioshock was excellent BTW. :D

LMAO stop making a fool of yourself. I am just going to reply back with the last sentence you said.
Yes, you are a "fanboy" of bioshock because you clearly are a "fan" of bioshock as well as a "boy".
I don't know what all the complaints are of the length of the game. Most games don't seem to offer more than 10-15 hours of play. If rushing through Bioshock offers 20 hours of play, that's fine in my books because I'm not rushing through it.I have had the game since last Tuesday and have been playing it a couple hours a day every day. I tend to explore every corner so I'll probably be looking at a longer playing time, not to mention the replay with it's multiple endings.
To me, Bioshock is a rare breed. Games like this do not come along very often. Sure you could rip on this game for tiny details but then I think if you're going that far, you totally missed the point of Bioshock. For me, it's a contender for game of the year.
^ Why are you here with your opinion if you havent played the game? And please be respectful, you dont see me using words like that when I make my statementswarz989I never said I haven't played the game. I have every right to be here. Next time, please be repectful of others before posting a spoiler.

It wasnt done on purpose, it was done to make part of a point...But whatever...im done with these bioshock threads
I think the length of the game is in the eye of the player. Somebody looking for intense action will probably run through the game more quickly. Somebody who likes to explore and see everything will probably take longer. I've seen people state the length of the game as anywhere from 10-30 hours. 10 hours is actually better than average for most FPSs (try getting 10 hours out of Gears or R6:V).
The fun you have with this game is what you make of it. If you're looking for intense action, you'd probably be best served to wait for Halo 3.
