I've seen a lot of achievement threads of late, and I was just wondering what other people's take on achievements would be like. So, how important is gamerscore to you?

I personally usually look a person's gamerscore before I even consider adding them to my Friend's List, as it's a good indicator of what kind of gamer they are. If I see a gamerscore higher than a few thousand I take that as a sign that the person isn't just playing the game I met them on and only that. Along with that, a few of my friends have a sort-of competition to see who can get the higher gamerscore. Of course I have an unfair advantage now that I have Gamefly.

I got my XBOX in 2008 and I only have 3800 GS so obviously I could care less lol...the achievements are useless to but they're nice to look at when you're bored, proof that you actually accomplished something while playing video games.:P

Like if they were profitable.

EXAMPLE:

20,000 = one XBOX Live arcade game of your choice

25,000= a buy into a beta of your choice, (the exclusive betas)

etc.

Not judging, but why do you look at a person's gamerscore to see what kind of gamer they are? Just wondering, because there are many reasons why that is not effective. For starters, games like COD don't give online achievements... and online is what counts. Or how someone may have made a new account, when their old one had like 39784638765798345748965438 gamerscore.

I started hunting down achievements since a few months. Of course i'm not buying random games only for achievements sake but i replay old games i didn't played in months and try to get 1000/1000 in them they just add replay value to games which is what i need to keep me entertained.

Still i hate multiplayer achievements so much.

I only partially concern myself with gamerscore. I won't go to any lengths to getting 1000/1000 because that's ridiculous. The only achievements I try to get are the ones that I could get at any time. Like in Assassin's Creed 2, I could just down to the Church in Venice then use a smokebomb to get the no hitter achievement, the sandthrowing achievement, and the spear of achievement. So if it's possible for me to get some easy achievements, I take it but I never go to extreme lengths.

I do like to point out that I am guilty for downloading Dash of Destruction

I usually try to get all offline achivements after I've beaten a game. Not for the gamescores sake, but just for replay value.

I don't care much about the overall Gamerscore, but I do care about individual achievements. Some of them are extraordinarily difficulty, and it's nice to have them. I also look at 100% completion on a game. (Very proud of my 99/99 achievements on Orange Box. :) )

Gamerscore for me is like personal satisfaction when you get that achievement for completing the game on the hardest difficulty or whatever. I'll admit that I'll sometimes go a little out of my way to get achievements if they're easy and convenient. But I would NEVER get 1000/1000 for a game - unless it's like King Kong (or some other movie licensed game)or something, which has joke achievements :P

not too much about gamerscore but achievements are a little different to me.

earning one hard achievement is better than having a crazy high gamerscore in my opinion.

lol. Gamefly rocks. As for achievements i alwaystry to get them while also just having fun, but lately i've been playing MW2 online a lot. My Xbox is played by almost everyone in my home so there will be "Achievement Unlocked" pretty often. So; "Yeaaaaah. Another achievement!!"

Oh yeah and for multiplayer achievements they piss me off when i almost have it and some random douche just knows i'm about to get it and they prevent it-i'm mostly referring to Halo.

Don't care about my gamerscore. I do enjoy going for achievements, but I won't go out the way to get it if I'm not having fun. Example I love Ninja Gaiden 2, but I refuse to go for the use only certain weapon for the entire game achievements since I find it boring.

I really don't care about my Gamerscore, but the achievements are a different story. I love looking through all the ones I've got! :D I like remembering what I've had to do to get them, it helps me remember certain parts in games, adds replay value and it feels like an overall 'collecting' mechanic spread across every 360 game! It sort of unites my 360 collection as a whole and sure has given me a lot of fun. But yeah, GS doesn't mean much to me. Achievements are the cool part. :D

It doesn't really mean anything to me, but I love hear the "plink!" noise when I get one, and if a game encourages you to get an achievement by experiencing the game to the fullest, I think it's a good thing.

I don't think it is that important. I see alot of gamers out there that have a huge GS, but if you look at their games it consists of easy achievement games like the burger king games etc. All that matters is that you have fun playing a game. I have beat many games and maybe havent got half the achievements. Things like killing pigeons in GTA is too much to do imo. Plus I am playing a Wii,360 and PS3, so its hard to get a high gs while playing all 3.

I care about them, and other times I don't. I was going to get 10k gamerscore (around 9.3k now) but I just quit gaming for a while. I like how achievements give you a history of the games you played.

I think gamerscore points should be traded in for MS points, that would be SOOOOOO much more effective. Plus the system is flawed because a person with alot of games generally has a higher score than players with not as many points. Even though the poorer person may be better at gaming than the richer one

I enjoy getting achievements, to the extent where other platforms such as the wii, I find boring because it doesnt give my an achievement lol My gs is 85395 but people on my friends list have a lot higher scores! I dont buy a game for achievements, and I wont buy a game if it is difficult to get the achievements on, its just an added bonus! I do think that the developers put the achievements there for reason, maybe so we get the most out of the game. eg veteran on the call of dutys.
