Well I have had Oblivion since launch... And I can tell you you are looking at it the wrong way.

Oblivion is the type of game that you can do whatever you really want to do with it...

The Side-Quests and the huge open ended world are what make it such a wonderful game..

And if you don't have a lot of time, that's fine... It's not beating games that really matters most, but having fun with them.

I still haven't gotten anywhere near finishing the main quest...

Actually... I'm on the 2nd quest OF the main quest... Right when I finished the beginning I went out on my own and basically never did anything with the main quest again.

I have played approx 130 hours and am coming close to finishing all of the side quests... But not really..

Overall the game is probably looking anywhere from 200-300 hours+... But it just depends on what you want to do... If you keep playing it afterwards, decide to create a new character, want to max out all of your stats, do all of the quests, etc.. It could take you awhile... If you just want to do the main quest (which takes away the point, but ohh well), then your probably looking at around 40-50 hours approx. If you play it on your own without always looking at a guide or asking people for help.

It took me about 30 hours or so to finish the storyline. (I Also completed the arena, and several other quests)

Back then I didn't bother the Fighters Guild-quests or any of the other guilds/brotherhoods. But the storyline is after my opinion the most boring quests in the game. There are so much else in the game that is so much fun! Just exploring is half the joy in the game! I've played it on my Xbox360, but now it's broken for the 2nd time (AAARGH!!!) so i play it on PC. On Xbox360 I've got 1000 GS, but I still explore new quests and areas! I never get bored playing Oblivion.

the main quest is approx 20 hours if you know exactly where to go, what to do, who to talk to, and what to buy, etc. A more realistic number is 30-40. And approx 150 hours worth of additional quests, from guilds, people, etc. So it wont be a short game, even if u rush through the Main Quest, hand in hand with a walkthrough. Plus, many times in morrowind before you could do a certain quest or advance a certain amount you would have to get stronger by doing some of the many optional quests, etc. If this is true for Oblivion, then expect a lengthy game that may take around a month for an average gamer to complete. If you want to complete it 100%, ur looking at several months at least. keep in mind this is for a single character.eo12601

I did all the achievements including the every Guild, Mehunes Razor, Shivering Isles and got to level 39 in 148 hours and 18 minutes. 309 saves, but I try not to save a lot anymore. You had to with SI because of the branching plots. I had to see what items and everything were the best. And get all the achievements.

I go to HS and have alot of homework and stuff to do so i only get about 2 hours MAX of playing videogames each day. am getting ESIV and the 360 at launch.

How long will it take me to complete this game if i only do the main quest and a few other side quests and stuff. A month? Remember 2 hours MAX, sometimes only 1 hour.tritaniumz45

Wait until u get a job too

Well, the "main" quest is around 25 hours alone.  But one doesn't buy an Elder Scrolls game to just diddle around with one quest.  If you complete the entire game, not counting Knights of the Nine or Shivering Isles, I have heard people can get to 200 hours.

I'd say at around 30 hours if you want all the achievements....around 20 if you only want to do the main quest or something... I take my time on games, though

It really depends, especially now that shivering isles is out. If you only do the main quest, I'd say just over 25 hours. If you add the side quests, you can put in up to 45 hours. With the expansion you can add another 25 hours. So just about 70 hours in all.

it took me over a 100 hours to beat it and the shivering isles. i didn't do all the side quests but i did do alot of side-quests and exploration to level up and get better items. also you might want to check out www.uesp.net it has everything you could possible want to know about the world. and it was a big help in more then a few quests. without the help of that site it would have taken twice as long.

took me around 250hrs with the DLC excluding that wizard crap (i never play as a mage :P)

as for how long? dividing my total play time by 2 you get 150, so 150ish days if you play 2hrs a day? as for how thorough you play the game it could be more or less, or if you feel like playing it again

I beat the game in about two days. It'll take you maybe a week or two.
