BUDDY i quit my gamertag a couple years in and started a new gamertag. but then they came out with the years you've been a member and mine only says 4 when it should say 7. BUDDY!!!! why are they being so dumb, they should just make it legit and do it by the date you signed up your account.

It's how many years you've been a a gold member. Not how many years you've had a account. It only counts when you have a paid account, not a free one.

I understand what you are saying. I don't have a complaint with that actually, as it's just a number and it would show just how long you've been a member of xbox.com But you can't really compare this to every other website, because the number you want to display, is displayed on a console profile not a website profile. I'm not against what you want, but I guess it was something M$ wanted to do for the members that paid for gold and didn't consider thinking about everyone in this case.

Have I missed a crucial point?

That is to say - why does it matter?

It honestly bothers me a bit, that even after being a member for over 8 years, I've never even gotten, like, 100 MS-Points. You're welcome MS.

I've been a Gold member since the 48-hour trial card that came with Halo 2 back in 2004, but as my Live account wouldn't transfer to my Xbox 360, I had to cancel that one (over the phone) and make my current one on my Xbox 360. So, technically I've been Gold since 2004, but I only mention it because it seems to be a big deal to some people on this topic. I don't even know where I'd find the "how long have I been a member" that has been referenced, and I don't really care.

Nope, not at all

You have been a paying member for 4 years, you don't deserve to have a 7 there when you didn't pay for 7

I'm not your buddy, pal...

I have to agree with whoever said does it matter? This number may be even less important and useful than your gamerscore. At least gamerscore at one point rewarded you with something, Old Spice Challenge anyone? Anyone?... Maybe I've had my 360 for too long.

i got xbox live in 2004 when i got halo 2. I have had it every year now. my current GT is 4 years. I would have of used the same GT all the way but my first xbox broke because i dropped it down the stairs:( so when i got a new one i couldn't remember the password on it so for a few years i kept changing my name with numbers. Once Microsoft deleted old names. i changed my name got my old name back with no crappy 0's or anything.

Tenure is for how many years you've had XBL Gold consecutively. I had 2 years racked up when my credit card expired. I rarely check the email address associated with my GT, so I didn't know until it had lapsed. So now my tenure is 3 instead of five.

I've had Xbox live since it first launch back in 2002, mech assault, mobile gp and capcom vs snk were it for live. This is the first year I haven't renewed my account to gold, I just don't play online like I used too ten years ago.

That's not the point he's getting at. He wants the number displayed for how long he has been a member of xbox.com, not for how long he's been a paying one. You shouldn't have to pay to have a number displayed on your profile.

What does it matter? You know when you started and that's all that matters. It's not like it's important for anything else.

Also, fair warning. Your dad is going to turn into the Green Goblin.

he said he switched accounts, learn to read.

Then that really settles the issue, doesn't it? A new account basically makes him a new person and his tenure was correctly reset. I don't see how anyone could reasonably expect to have a new account back dated for an old account. That would be like me registering a new account here and complaining that my level or post count had been reset.

Im surprised no one else noticed this untill now... He solved his own problem without even knowing it. Case closed.

I have paid for Xbox Live since it was in beta. My years gold number I would assume is 9 and will be 10 in November of this year. So, I guess I don't care how they calculate the number because my number would be the same either way.

Nobody else questioned why he seemed to be arguing with himself in his initial post and calling himself buddy? wat.
