only if we could communicate with Xbox 360 Live users as well and play online games with them

Before anyone starts having a go, this thread is purely just to see what people would do in the following situation:
The xbox 720 is released late next year. No Natal or anything, just a completely new console. Its been about 5 ish years since release of the xbox so we are probably at the lower limit of acceptable timing for release of the new console.en3sge
it is possible.
i do remember one of the suites of microsoft saying that the "next generation" console will not bereleasednext year. i read that somemonths ago.
if you ask me, microsoft should ditch the x-box trademark and think of a new name that is fresh for their new console, whenever it comes out.
I would be pissed they named it something stupid like the xbox 720drocka11
"x-box 7" and "x-box 720" are only operational names made up by god knows who to describe the next console. can you see whymicrosoft would call their new console the "x-box 720" besides figuring this? 360+360=720? in regard to the x-box 360. one gamespotter said the "x-box 360" is called this because you approach it, do a 360 degree turn, then walk away. :)
in saying most of the above, i can't think off the top of my head any suggestions for a new name.
the new xbox will have a blu ray as microssoft is a member of the blu ray assosiation.
foodme123
Microsoft isn't a member of the Blu-Ray Disc Association.

I know. That makes no sense. Taking a 360 degree turn would have you facing the Xbox again. Cows can be so stupid sometimes(you know a cow said that)

The console has the following features:
- Fully backwards compatible with all xbox 360 software (but not original xbox software)
- Blue Ray functionality
- A good catalogie of 20 or so games for launch
- Graphics comparable to top end PCs released now (say, 6 core power pc processor, 2GB RAM, graphics comparable to Radeon 5850, 4xAA minimum by EDRAM)
- All new games running at 1080p, all previews are saying 'crysis' levels of detail.
- No Natal, but future expansion promised
- 250Gb HDD
- Price £400/$600
- Initial reports are that consoles far more reliable than before.
This is just purely hypotehtical (but I think not too far removed from reality if it did happen). Been giving it some thought. If that really came out in a years time and all those above points were true, and the games looked stunning, would you buy it? Would it at least be a 'potential'?
Curious as so many people are against a new generation so soon but if it did come out, Im still betting most people would have a good look, if not buy.
en3sge
Sounds intrestring, I would buy it at the realese however: will it ever happen no.
It would really be to soon for them to release a new console and i think it would look bad on microsoft releasing a system that soon but i cant lie id buy it.If said xbox 720 had backwards compatability, more reliable and launched with at least 20 games i know id buy one.Im such a nut over xboxlive because its pretty much the only reason i play games.I quit playing games through the whole ps1,n64 era and came back sometime during the first xboxs life cycle because of live.
Every time I buy a new console the next one is released after a couple of months from the one I bought .
When I bought a PS1 the PS2 was released 3 months later, and when I bought the PS2 the Xbox360 was released 6 months later and afterwards the PS3 has come with a whole new generation of videogames so the producing of PS@ games was over.
So ,I DONT really like a new console of xbox360 or PS3to be released!!!
In spite of that I dont mind to see a new gen of games which graphics are like crysis or more....
First off, I'm glad the next Xbox isn't being released soon, there's still plenty to be done on the current Xbox.
As for the hypo... there's no way I could buy it. I couldn't justify a $600 system + more games expense considering the craziness of the economy.
Even if economics weren't a problem I still wouldn't want a first run next gen Xbox. I'd probably try to wait a year for a good hardware/software bundle to make it more worthwhile.
Further, I don't really get so hung up on graphics, so the fact that it had better graphics doesn't really mean that much to me. I want my games to look good, but I don't care to spend $600 bucks to see my games get a little facelift.
I'd also know that those 20+ games at launch (never that many games at launch, but hey, its a hypo) would probably be Xbox 360 ports for the most part and the "original" as in only for Xbox 720 games would probably only be half finished, rough and rushed to get out in time (Perfect Dark Zero, that's you... Condemned you were the exception). Even if a brand new truly awesome Halo game were released at launch I'd probably still skip it for at least a year.
lol wait what?[QUOTE="Texas2089"][QUOTE="starman4"]one gamespotter said the "x-box 360" is called this because you approach it, do a 360 degree turn, then walk away. :)starman4
it was only a joke.
Except that, of course, a 360 degree turn leaves you facing in the same direction you started.

It's a very classic troll post just to garner responses similar to that, except typically angrier and more defamatory. Pretty old and pretty much played out.

I wouldn't really call that trolling. I was just confused because a 360 degree turn leaves you facing the same direction so I wasn't sure if maybe it was a typo or a bad joke. Do people honestly get mad over something like that though?I wouldnt give MS my money "especially more money then the last 2 gens" IF they promissed free games for life. They have lost me as a fan and Im not following them into the depths of H$%ll again.

Can play both 360/Xbox games.
If you have a 360, you can change or add your 360 profile to 720 with all acheivements and rep
Go on internet and download stuff.
also a decent price- $400-$500
Wi-fi included also no more open vents (my 360 is really dusty)
That's all I have.
Man I was playing Episodes From Liberty city last sunday and boy did draw distance suffer. Its weird isnt it? I mean remember older GTAs using Renderware they ran smoothly enough on PS2s 333MHz and what not , and if you paid attention GTA 4 uses 3 levels of detail loading one after the other, the second layer resembling alot the graphical quality of older GTA titles such as San Andreas.
What Im trying to say is the 360 has a lot of potential in it if programmers do their job right
