I have a good idea, hope your listening Microsoft

By now everybody knows about the XBL price raise. I am personally against it not because it is too but because it is a rip off. So I think I have a solution that could possibly fix this.

For the people who bought their Xbox to play video games and just want to play multiplayer for their games, all they need is silver which is free.

Now for the people who use Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, Last.fm, and Hulu, and all of the extra crap that microsoft makes us pay for that most of us don't use.

Now half of the stuff that you are paying for you get for free on the internet that your already paying to use. Your already paying Netflix, so why pay again to use it? I just want to play the multi for my games because that is what my gaming console is for. When I want to socialize I have my handy dandy laptop computer. So place your vote and lets see what people say and want.

Ehh. I think they should keep ESPN. Probably not going to even use it.

I think it should be pay as you use it. If you play online, pay for that, if you use the other features, then you pay for them separately. I for one couldn't be any less interested in using that ESPN thing and whatever else they have. All I care about are the games, its stupid for me to have to pay for everything else too.

Yes you do. Some people change it anyway or make a new account to take advantage of the free month.

That's exactly how MS sells Gold membership. They probably know that barely anybody would pay for Gold if all they were getting out of it was just all this extra crap we can do on a PC. If we could all play online without paying for Gold, MS would lose almost all of their profits off of it. And I really think that any time somebody has an idea for MS, they just plug their ears and start saying "lalalalala"

I think it should be tiered then. Like, I dunno... $40 a year just to play online, $60 for all the extra crap. Still... all that facebook crap and everything? the PS3 has a full broswer where you could do all that stuff if you really wanted to, and not pay anything extra. Hell, even Wii has Netflix with no additional charge (other than for Netflix itself)

silver having free online would destroy everything, no-one would pay for gold, and thus, MS would either have to increase the price, or decrease the quality of service. I like it the way it is. Bar the price rise :evil:

well if they microsoft allowed silver users to play multiplayer then i dont think anyone would buy the god live card which will be a huge loss for microsoft.

Honestly... The price raise doesn't bother me in the slightest.

i think they should just introduce a third level of subscription they should have:

• silver - just the same as it is right now
• gold - slightly cheaper than it is now, but access only to online multiplayer and the marketplace and stuff (no twitter, facebook etc)
• platinum (maybe) - slightly more than current gold, but includes access to everything, the twitter, facebook, last.fm etc etc

this would mean that instead of increasing the cost for everyone, only the people that actually use these features would have to pay for them, i personally almost never use these features and it annoys me that we are all now going to have to pay more just because they are there, there should be an extra level of subscription so that people who want these things can have them, and people that use the console only for gaming should be able to do that without having to pay more for stuff they never use

they have had three levels once with bronze silver and gold but i dont know wut bronze was for or what even happened to bronze
