[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]There goes the realism of the BIA games. I guess Gearbox thought they needed teh Xtreme gorez! WWII games are sooo last gen anyways.KC_HokieI would argue they made it more realistic since WWII wasn't PG-13.
Gotta agree. When a grenade goes off, the person wouldn't just die, they get blown the F&*# up!!! Ever seen Saving Private Ryan?
when you shoot a hard-shelled melon of some sort (like.. cantaloupes), the shell holds together for a split-second longer when it's shot by pretty much anything, making it explode when it finally does give way. :DClick here for .300 caliber rifle against watermelon (start at 1:25)
Watermelons have the same basic consistency as the human head.
And the sniper rifle used by U.S. soldiers in WWII was the Springfield M1903 which fired a .03-06 round which is slightly larger than a .300.

It's a nice feature, but to be honest... I was a bit disturbed by it. I mean, it didn't bother me when Locust or COG solders where chainsawed to pieces.. but this feels way different. It's gonna show an ugly side of war I don't think I've seen. But I'm gonna like this game. :)sinistergogglesCall me an idiot, but I didn't know there was a good side to war.

very true.
snipers today don't even need to land the bullet - if it passes a few mm-cm from the head the waves the bullet produces are enough to kill them.
Ok, this is REALLY pissing me off. Has ANYONE in this forum played ANY of the other Brothers In Arms games? You guys are acting like a leg flying off is a new thing. In "Road to hill 30" certain explosions did blow off arms and legs. But that was on the original xbox. With the 360, they can make it so everytime something truly brutal happens (ie. headshot, explosion) they give you a quick cinematic of it, zoomed in of course. The cinematic portion wasn't in the prior games, but the gore was. Obviously it has been touched up a little bit with graphical enhancements, but its not new. Gearbox did it with the other two Brothers In Arms games. As for realism, well that's close to realism, if you want to see what a grenade really does, your sick in the head. I've seen some close friends blown apart by car bombs, and trust me, it's nothing pretty. A grenade won't just blow off your legs, super hot shrapnel will cut right through your body, limbs will fly off, the person will most likely be disemboweled as well. Video game gore is fun, real life gore isn't.

I'm sorry that you had to experience that.

You beat me to it. The bit on realism anyway. From my personal experience, no videogame truly captures what true war is. One thing you didn't mention that I wanted to add though. The concussive force of the blast of a grenade can also knock your eyes out of your skull, even if you get out of the killzone.
I think it's pretty funny that most people are perfectly fine with extreme violence and even think that it's cool, but in the thread about nudity in games they go like "Oh noes, that's sick and doesn't add anything to teh story!!1" Anyway, I don't really like World War games, but I guess I will try it for the multiplayer. nethernova
Not sure if you're aiming that comment at me or not, but my reference to the word "cool" was not about the act of violence during war time or the brutality of combat, but merely a nod to the developer for not shying away from the grim reality. People die in wars and some people lose body parts. It's not a pretty or nice place to be. Death and dismemberment are a part of war as much as anything else. So don't think I mean "cool" as in I revel in it.
heres wat im talkiong about (REMEMBER this is from the ps2 which means bad graphics compared to now)
Watch Doyle get vaporized!

Yep but the devs are showing what war was like and i love COD but its never really shown us what war was really like.
At least until Call of Duty World at War comes out.

Of course, we've all seen the JFK pictures, but not every head pops like a melon with every gun shot. That's not realistic.
if you want realism then join the military.
well it's rated M for a reason palKGB32
Yeah but that's not my point my point is they made it with the Unreal engine because they did 'nt want to make the game too grpahic and realistic looking bcause it woud threaten it to recieve an A rating because the gaming engine makes the game too graphic.
