well said, I'd rather play a graphically "inferior" game with depth in it's story and original gameplay, than a shiney, graphically rich shooter with a terrible story and boring, booooring gameplay. 

If it exists I think it would be going up as my background image immediately. After all, it is technically a billion dollar pic. Halo 3 at this point still doesn't look as good as Gears. I have my copy reserved though regardless. newgames128

Halo's got the better MP, so there!  no really I'm much looking forward to some new Deus Ex, and some rumoured new System Shock aswell.

it's wierd how no one is mentioning the amazing art direction halo 3 has.... i mean if anything thats more important to me that just plain old graphics, caus everything in halo just fits, and compliments it'self so much. gears is pretty fun for the first couple play throughs and all, but it's very un-inspired dark hallways aren't realy anything special.

just look at twilight princess, thats proof enough of how far art can take a game. or hell most FF titles for that matter.

I got that too for $6 a month ago. Awesome game, and obviously tons better than Halo. But I love both. Backstabbing companies, FTW!

Agreed.  I played the beta for like 2 days and thought "what is the point? this is boring".  I loved Halo CE and played it in the dorms like crazy, but Halo 2 was pretty dumbed down, and I hope the beta is no indication of how the actual game will be.  I thought it was weak. 

Anyone who says they want gameply over graphics is sorta flawed, the main point, and it is the main point of 360 from Xbox 1 is to have better graphics, if a game like Halo 3 doesnt have top notch visuals, but does have great gameplay.........then in my opinion itl is a failure, gameplay is nice, but you dont have a machine with those specs for gameplay, sorry but you just dont.V4LENT1NE

Well they better change an awful lot in the next few months then cause i was bored with the beta after 6 matches

I think I'll save my money for COD4 and GoW2 heck maybe even MoH Airborne

I have a gaming PC, you havent quite got the point. I am not saying there is anything wrong with old skool games, no doubt graphics arent everything, but there is no reason in the world you would put a 3.2ghz triple Core CPU, 512 DDR3 and a very high end GPU in a machine and not expect great looking visuals, Halo 3 should look amazing, thats what all that power is for. Theydidnt give it those specs for gameplay, they game it those specs to give you high end visuals, thats why I expect all new games to utilize this, otherwise I dont see the point in the purchase, thats all.

first off, graphics aren't everything look at the wii. halo 3 is already good and it looks just a little bit better than halo 2. but that is all you have seen is the beta. THE GAME IS NOT FINISHED YET! THE GRAPHICS WILL GET BETTER. i wish people would quit complaining about unfinished graphics

i agree with u V4LENT1NE, i'm not a graphics whore, but with those specs in the 360 all games should look amazing.  i remember the first time i played the 360 and just thinking "wow" after i saw the graphics.  and graphics are even that important to me.  but they definately added to the gameplay (fight night round 3).  all in all, if i spent $400 on a system that's games looked like xbox 1 games, then it really wouldn't be worth the purchase.

as for the topic.  i didn't even know that epic showed microsoft pics of gears running at 256 vs 512 ram :shock: i'd really like to see the comparisions.  hopefully they'll release the pics

Apperently the idea of style and theme have never crossed your mind.  Gears looks great because of its look. It looks good because its realistic (to an extend).  Halo3 on the other hand has a theme, they are not aiming for photo realistic.  Halo uses a lot of purples, greens, and blues because those are the colors that best convey the type of setting you are in (kinda future, not human for the most part). 

 People now for some reason think unless its grey and brown, its not good looking.

Wow the TC is such an ignorant bum. If he had an HDTV he wouldn't be dissing Halo 3's graphics. Second of all it's a friggen beta, not only that a multiplayer one. Third of all who gives a crap. Halo 3 blows gears of war away on every level in multiplayer.

AI, physics, environment(detail and size), amount of characters on screen, amount of depth a game can have, steady frame rate for otherwise games that would be unstable on a last gen console. I can go on.
