I'd rather have Splinter Cell Double Agent than MGS4.

After playing MGS4, I was stunned with the graphical aspect/story aspect of the game, but once you actually get into the gameplay, I found it ok, but nothing amazing. Mabey it's because I've gotten used to Splinter Cell and pefer their way of a stealth game.

If I had to review MGS4 I'd give it a 8.0, while Splinter Cell a 9.

Alright, I'll give you another copy of Splinter Cell. (Thats Right! You will have 2 copies of Splinter cell!!) and I'll take MGS off your hands because I thoughts SC sucked butt! (I would use another word for butt but the mods around here are rediculous)

You can say ass. And giving MGS4 an 8 is just insulting. The gameplay allows you to play through the game pretty much however you want. That's better than giving you a "stealth or die" option, IMO. I'm not too crazy about SC myself but yeah. Give credit where credit is due, at the very least.

I was never into Splinter cell double agent only played it once since christmas. Anyway so you can just play it by killing everyone and not doing it stealthfully? Thinking about buying it.

There are certain missions where it's necessary to be low profile, but throughout the majority of the game you can shoot and kill pretty much everything and get through the mission just fine. The game has alot more emphasis on gunplay this time around, and it also has alot more depth to the sneaking department as well. Both work just fine, though sneaking is usually an easier course on the harder difficulties. Even the most skilled players will be killed if they just walk around guns blazing. I play a mix of the two, I sneak around alot and use supressors on my guns to just eliminate anything I feel to be a threat.

Could not agree anymore with that.

I use to appreciate Splinter Cell, I played it on the Playstation 2 and liked it, I enjoyed the multiplayer in Pandora Tomorrow but then started to get annoyed with Chaos Theory's multiplayer, it was the same game with different music and more maps, although the single changed for the good, but then Double Agent lost me, in my opinion the multiplayer could have been better as well as the single player, I cannot speak for the Xbox's version or the Xbox 360's version as they got the better deal.

i've actually like splinter cell better then mgs for while mgs4 is great don't get me wrong but for me the writing and stealth mechanics have been better in the splinter cell games the rest isn't applicable because mgs does alot more. mgs4 is defiently a bigger more open ended game.

Splinter Cell Double Agent was the worst Splinter Cell game. Chaos Theory is so much better than Doube Agent and Metal Gear Solid 4 looks amazing. To bad its the Last MG game. :( I hope it comes to the Xbox 360.

That's what I hate about the series, it's the same game over and over, yet we keep buying them.

As far as MGS4 goes, You can't ever really judge a game UNLESS you beat it, which I'm guessing you haven't.

You beat Splinter Cell, right? Why not give MGS4 the same level of fairness? There must be a reason GS/GI/IGN gave it the Perfect 10.

This is a joke right. Splinter cell DA was THE worst SC game ever. I would take MGS4 over any SC game any day. And I am not a big big fan of the playstation.

MGS = 9.5 in my book, just like GTA4. Don't get me wrong though, MGS4 is awesome, splinter cell is nothing compared to it. I'll admit though, the cutscenes are pretty brutal (looooong).

I love the MGS series but I agree with you on the stealth genre part. I prefer the more down to earth no super power villain, or guard fooled by a card board box trick on the norm. MGS4 is an achievement of epic proportions in an iteractive entertainment sense, no doubt about it.

I have both. MGS4 is hands down one of the best games I've ever played. The gameplay takes skill, but once you get some it's uncomparable.

Giving MGS4 an 8 is an insult . It is more worth its 10 than GTA4 was . And with a point 5 system like Gamespot, a must-have game should deserve a 10 .

No one said they were prerendered video files. If they're rendered in real time, that still makes them CG (computer generated) movies.

The bitter jealousy continues.

I almost gaurantee the TC hasn't even played MGS4. That makes this thread, worthless.

Go buy it and play it, don't cry that it's not any good because you don't have it. I have owned my PS3 for 8 months, can't it have 1 decent game without everybody getting their panties in a wad? Hell, it was long overdue in my eyes, so give it some credit.

Giving a console 1 credit because it needs it is not hwo it works, it must deserve it before you jsut give the credit away. MGS4 deserves part credit in my eyes. It's got nice cut scenes, but the gameplay is harldy revolutionary, and any other game would be considered a rehash if it didn't change rgeatly from game to game.

Pure stealth games suck. I liked the MGS series though, not so much just stealth. And the story was always awesome. I would actually like to play MGS4 but no way I'm getting a PS3 just for that. Just hoping it gets ported otherwise I won't play it. Not that crazy.

It doesn't NEED it, it is just well deserving. MGS4 to me was a better experience than GTA4 was. I consider them both solid 9.5's using GS scoring, and 9.7's using IGN.

However, I'm not a reviewer. They gave PS3 the first AAAAE of this Gen. Can't argue with fact :(

You think MGS4 is an 8? That's insulting. It's turning out to be one of the greatest games ever made, the story is top notch, the production values are top notch, grafics are stunning, steath play is rewarding, action play is exciting, boss's are fenomenal, the attention to detail is superb. By far the best game this gen. Imo maybe just the best game ever game.

It's up there, but I consider it the same league as GTA4/Bioshock/MGS4 and Gears might barely make the cut. Gears was a really good game, they just need to open it up more, I want more grapples/options.

If every game had the amount of customization that MGS4 does, I'd be a very happy gamer.

What's wrong with Splinter Cell: Double Agent? I had fun with it. Maybe my expectations are too low but that's pretty much the only expectation I have. If I have fun with a game, then I'll play it. Don't pay a lot of attention to review scores, I just go with the flow. :)

I thought SC: DA was the weakest in the entire series, and I want to play MGS4 so bad. Can I have your copy?
