Are you sure about that? I was under the impression that if you where already a gold subscriber you couldn't use those free month cards. They are intended to give silver users a taste of gold in an attempt to reel them in.
@gamermanps2 - You may want to check the usage restrictions on your card to see what it says.
I believe that it stacks, at least it has for me, up to a certain # of months (36 maybe?). You cannot use the free month that you get when you buy a console on an existing gamertag. If you're talking about the cards:

Q: Can I use a code from a prepaid card to renew my current membership?
A: Yes. When you enter a code from a prepaid card to renew your current membership, your membership will continue through its current billing cycle. At the end of the membership term, your membership will automatically renew to the membership type determined by your prepaid card. You will have effectively "stacked" time onto your membership.
My Xbox 360 crashed just before Christmas and I sendt it in for repair. When I got it back, they had sendt a 1 month gold subscribtion card. I've always been a gold member, and the card just added a 1 month to my subscribtion.technofranki
That's a different free card, I belive the OP was talking about the free month that usually comes in some high profile games to get you to try the multiplayer and such. Which those, again, cannot be used on an existing gold membership.

Yes, those are the types of codes I'm talking about (like the GTA 4 one). Is this true they are only for new accounts?

Yes they can, stop giving people false information if you don't now what you're talking about. I add all free month/48 hour cards to my account and it adds on to the end always.

that is completely false... they work just fine for existing gold members, I have added 3 of those one-month cards that came with games and it added onto my account. I really wish people who didn't know what they were talking about wouldn't just make stuff up :([QUOTE="Endgame_basic"]Yes they can, stop giving people false information if you don't now what you're talking about. lol, what did I say about doing research before telling someone they are lying?
Here, I found this in the FAQ...
Q: I am already an Xbox LIVE member. Can I use the one-month free trial offer to renew my membership?A: No. The one-month free trial card can only be used to create new Xbox LIVE accounts, not to renew existing accounts.Xbox Live Account FAQ
There, now stop calling me a liar!

I was able to use the GTA4 free one month card on an existing account. And if other people were also able to, I'm not sure why it says you can't.Q: I am already an Xbox LIVE member. Can I use the one-month free trial offer to renew my membership?
