Wow I expected the darkness to get at least an 8.5 at ign but whatever I rarely listen to reviews as its only one persons opinion.
this game is a high 8 in my mind and it will be official when i buy it tomorrowGen007
so you've given it a score already, even though you haven't played it?
makes sense.
i dont think i will like the game it dont look to goodallen30009
Yeah, they use proper english in The Darkness, you'd hate it...

In my mind the next Xbox system will eliminate world hunger.
It's a shame, I was really looking forward to this title. There's no way i'm paying $60 for a game I can beat in 10 hours. I'll save myself the headache and rent it.
Thats why you can play it over and over and it also has multiplayerMauser_Loader
Sounds like the multiplayer is pretty anemic though.
Haha, I read the review and thought to myself: "I think I'll go to the 360 forums at GS, I bet that there are at least a few threads about this review already up." And sure enough.... I agree with this review from what I've seen of the game. Also it's another 8-10 hour FPS... yay.Hopefully the Transformers turns out well... I want to pick up one game this week....

If thats your take on games then your collection is going to be mighty tiny
But I can recommend some games you'll love then
Half-LIFE 2: Orange Box
Mercenaries 2
Those 2 alone will last me all fall and both have online. HL2 has a CS style game called Team Fortress, you like those?
I'm a HUGE Half life fan, Mauser. THAT's the best FPS franchise of all time imo(and devs should aspire for equal or better greatness...). I'm just tired of paying 60 bucks for half-baked games. With the exception of games that I want for the nostalgia factor of course... i.e Transformers. But yeah, I love HL :)
(The last incomplete (i.e. half-baked) game I bought was Shadowrun. Take the time to deepen your games, devs! We aren't all lemmings!!! (Although I bought SR... so I'm not one to talk -_-(45 bucks for the PC wasn't too bad, though)))
The only thing that would make me want to buy a shooter that takes 8-10 hours to beat is a remarkable multiplayer, which in this case it sounds like it doesn't have going for it. Too bad, I was looking for a new title to pick up but I think I'll rent it jsut to beat the campaign.jacksheetsSame, It's not that the game might not be good but I don't think it'll be worth the $60. FPS's aren't really my cup of tea... *sigh* Mass effect where art thou?
If I can beat a campaign in 10 hours and there is no real replay vaule to play the campaign over and over again, and there isn't a phenomenal multiplayer why spend $60, when you can spend less than $10 and rent it? You could even rent it again later and you're only out $20.
There's a few titles on my shelf I'm kicking myself for buying.
(cough)crackdown(cough)
Bah, Jack! I disagree with your Crackdown comment. I play that game nearly every day... I love it... but c'est la vie. I agree that the darkness isn't worth more than a rent, though.Staryoshi87
The logic doesn't work for everyone or every game. I'm just talking about in my case, I understand some people played Crackdown over and over again. It just didn't keep my attention after I beat all the bosses.
s'all good though :)

Overall - 9.5

Hence why I through in c'est la vie... :) Unlike mostforum-goers, Iwon't try to tell you what you should and should not like =P

Most 360 games you've played are about 8-10 hours....
This is a must buy game!IGN said The Darkness is certainly worth buying then they slap it with a 7.8! WTH?
It's funny though, now it seems like if a game gets less than a 9 people are up in arms complaining and bashing the site or reviewer for it.
Every game isn't supposed to get a 9 or higher, or even 8. If it were that way the rating system would be VERY screwed up. A 9 should be a game that goes down in history and is remembered. Theres so many games popping out every month they shouldn't all be getting 9's left and right.

A 7.8 isn't a bad score. People have this mindset that if it isn't around a 9 it's crap.

Giving a game a 7.8 then saying it's definitely worth buying is kinda asinine. I buy games that get 4/10, so I understand what you're saying, but sadly most people don't view games we do, and they see the reviewers word as the "truth".

Amen!
Did you get my PM btw? If not, I sent you a friend thing...Tacking Bull ****
I think it's perfectly okay to label a 7.8 game as a "must buy". It'd be stupid if every other game was getting high 8's and 9's. I think those scores should be reserved for truly great games.jacksheets
The sad part is that IGN has given higher scores to games that aren't deserving.
Sure thing, but Im not going to have GOLD for a few weeks, but I will soon!
Putting the next few pay checks in the bank for the HUGE amount of games this fall
On a side note, I can think of one game that scored a 7.8 on GS that's a must buy (imo).... You know the one...Staryoshi87
NOOOOOOOOoOOoOOooo!
;)
jk. heh heh.
all i can do is complain about the review since the game is probably going to be amazing - complaining that it dosen't get harder is dumb , it's pretty original for a game to get easier as you get stronger , sounds fun
