Ugh i miss the days when in a resident evil game a whole magazine of pistol ammo wasnt enough to bring down one zombie and and you were actually scared to open a door or climb a flight of stairs. Then again i also miss the days when Sonic was good, oh well I'll still buy it. Too much of a fan to let this one slip through obscurity.

What worries me is they said the game is extremely easy and only lasts around 10-12 hours. As long as I can play as wesker again in Merc mode I'll be just fine.

Ive already seen the game almost front to back because my friend has a modded xbox and got the leaked copy I also played it quite a bit. for 1. I did'nt think it was scary at all. 2. The ending was kinda lame. 3. The game was too short for me i wouldnt spend 60$ on it. 4. It dos'nt live up to the hype of previous Resident evil's 5. Going into inventory was annoying because the game did'nt stop and i was being attacked all the time trying to save that stupid girl. 6. Grapics were great. 7. Some enviorments were great some were bland like a cave that had a bunch of mayan zombies. 8. Game was good, nothing great but i enjoyed it, i give it a 8/10.

Survival horror has changed, lets be honest. It's more "survival" and less "horror". Still, if I wanted to be scared, I'd watch a movie. Gameplay should be more important than simply trying to scare someone.

Yeah yeah yeah, stop whining you jackasses. Resident Evil changed, evolved it's graphics, and gameplay. Sure, I think RE5 could have better controls, at least being able to walk while shooting. After RE4 the game deeply changed, and most people think it's for the best. I think it's for the best, I always liked RE, I freaking loved 4, it was one of my favorite games ever. And many people think like that. The new style brought new players to the franchise, new fans. If capcom lost 10 thousand fans with the new gameplay, they gained 100 thousand others. Face it, you may not like it, but they did the right thing. Asking RE to go back to it's roots, is the same as asking Mario games to back to side scrooling. YOU may like it, thousands won't. The key is MONEY. RE4's formula worked, they'll keep it, tweaking from there on. Unless someone has another crazy idea and completly reinvent RE, they'll never go back to it's roots. AND, if you don't like the way the game plays, simply run away from the enemies like in the old RE games. It's pretty much the same thing, but with better graphics, and better puzzles. The old RE games sometimes looked more like puzzles than Survival Horrors...paulokoenigkam

I made up my mind after playing the demo. The game is garbage. Controls scheme is terrible and aiming is awful. Sheva is a burden and you still cannot move and shoot......after 13 years of this franchise they won't let you move & shoot. Don't have time for old controls.

It's going to be a great game, but it's not resident evil anymore.

Resident evil is about poo-ing yourself as you see a shadow crawing up a wall, and a groan that you can't quite place where it came from.

not bang-bang, your dead, more ammo yay. more bang-bang

NOD_Grindking

i totally agree.

I agree with this post 100%... It's going to be an amazing game, but its just not RE anymore for me...

Me too but i'll still get it. Looks pretty good still i'd much rather have them be like the older games to some degree. Though the bosses did look cool and the co-op looks amazing.

their review left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. they claimed the game had nothing scary to it at all, going so far to say if you wanted a game with atmosphere, that re5 wasnt it. granted, re4 wasnt scary in the lines of jump out of your seat stuff, but it was creepy, intense, made you really nervous to go into the next room, and had great atmosphere. they went on to say it was good but for an action game. it was just off putting. ill still buy the game but i cant help thinking it wont live up to my memories of re4, esp after that review. there are still other sites, though so hopefully theyll restore my faith

I don't have anyone to play co-op with, and I'm always more of a single player guy. From the demo, my "partner" really got under my skin. Hording the ammo, then not using her fully ammoed machine gun but her pistol. And then ran right into death. I might slap my forehead alot playing this game.

I also agree. It looks good, but its got no zombies, therefore its not really resident evil.

dont really agree with you there. RE4 wasnt creepy at all, the enemies made a hell of a noise when they saw you. I fully believe that RE5 will be a contender for game of the year, but it isnt really my cup of tea. My problem with RE4 and 5 is it was ruined a little by the updated physics and camera angles. Resident evil was scary because the camera masked your view alot of the time and because zombies took quite a few bullets to put down, in a game where ammo was limited. As for RE4 and 5, I found the new physics made things a little too simple, a bullet or 2 into the legs and then knife them on the ground until dead.

Recently finished the game, and although it really isn't scary at all it's a great game. It starts off slowly but builds up throughout and has a great balance between sooting sections and "puzzle" sections to slow the game down a bit. I have my copy preordered, as I was always going to want to buy this. The game is basically RE4 on steroids, everything is bigger and better. The only niggle i have is sheva, she's a complete waste of time and effort and will probably be used as a mule by most people to carry equipment around as she wastes too much ammo (i almost ran out in a few sections because of her at which point i decided not to give her any ammo). Also, she uses health items too frequently, and shoots at anything she can see, even if they're a mile off in some unreachable part of the level.

The inventory system is shockingly bad i have to say. The inability to combine or discard items in sheva's inventory (you have to swap them to yours and then mix/drop them) is rediculous and tedious. She also gets in your line of fire too often and will stand right behind you in a corridor and shoot at enemies through yourself, again wasting ammo (its a good job eachothers bullets dont hurt you/her).

Overall i'd give this game a 9/10, i was actually hoping to score it a bit higher, and had sheva not been in the game, i would have, as everything else it does, it does so well.

Like I said, RE lost a lot of fans, but gained a lot more, your first point is wrong. You and your friends are some of them.

RE4's formula didn't work? Wrong, It got amazing grades, and many GOTY awards.

The puzzles in 4 were better, at least in my oppinion. Why? Because they didn't break the pace of the game that much. They made more sense then some of the old RE games. The ONLY BAD puzzle was the one when you had when you played as Ashley. I want to play a thrilling game, not a thinking one, when I wanna think I play chess.

Yes LMAO better graphics INDEED! RE4 had amazing graphics for it's time, and RE5 is one of the best looking games this gen. I don't really get your point here.

Yeah... sold the least? Got proof? Because if it was so bad, I'm sure they'd have ditched the game formula, I believe it was the best selling RE game.

I'll be quiet for those people that say it doesn't have the "struggle for survival" feeling anymore. In the old REs you ran more, now you fight almost all the time. But in the other hand, high variety of guns and the fact that they are upgradable, makes the game deeper, more varied.

But then again, just run away from the enemies most of the time, and dont break random boxes and scenary items to get pick-ups. You'll have little money, and very limited supplies. Just like the old RE games (and don't buy or upgrade anything). If you like the old camera better... then there's something wrong with you, every room is a different picture with a different angle, which makes things VERY confusing sometimes, specially when you're trying to escape something. Now you can see what's in front of you, but you have no idea of what's behind you, making you easy to get caught by surprise.

I'll also be quiet for the people that miss the zombies. Yes I also think zombies and mutant zombies are cooler than these enemies, but these enemies are more lethal than zombies, and there are still mutant things around. Zombies are just awesome.

RE 5's co-op idea wasn't a good one if you ask me. Every bad thing you say about the AI, or the lack of thrill because you have a partner is PROBABLY true. But multiplayer is THE thing this generation...

Also, I wouldn't mind having smarter, faster, and a higher numer of enemies chasing me at the same time, in exchange for more agile character gameplay.

To me, RE has always been a good game series, but after 4, it because one of my favorite ones. I don't think 5 is as good as 4, but is still great. If you enjoyed the old games, try what I told you, don't break boxes and other items to get supplies, and don't use money. The game will feel completly different...

like i said only on the internet you will people that like RE4

the puzzle in 4 were not better. lol come now be honest, why? cause re4's puzzles were easier to solve? i bet you didn't ever complete the old REs.

why mention graphics? of course the sequel to a game is going to have better graphic. you seem desperate. once again SMH

those enemies are more lethal? all you have to do is shoot one in the leg and karate kick and the whole swarm of enemies will fall back.

Of course Resident Evil 4 gained Capcom more fans. That's a no brainer, and you'd be very naive to think otherwise.

[QUOTE="dthach614"]o rly? a lot of fans thought RE change for the worst. only on internet forums and on some website you would see someone praising RE4 and 5. I have a lot of friends and they all thought RE4 was trash. sometimes i don't even take my own opinion seriously because im a very hardcore gamer. but most of my friends are more casuals and even they thought RE4 was trash and boring after 15 min. RE 4 formula didn't work. There were better puzzles in RE4? LMAO why do you keep mentioning better graphics??? SMH x 100 btw RE4 was sold the least out the series. and i guaranteed RE5 will do worse. come on, stop making up stuff.dthach614

The game will feel completly different...

question, how do you know re4 gain capcom more fans?

How RE4 gained more fans? Simple, you said only people on the internet "I will people" (just like you said) that like RE4.Big news... EVERYBODY IS ON THE INTERNET.

Yep, I do think they were better because they were easier. Yep I finished all the main RE games, except for the very first, because I only had a SNES back in the time. After I got a PSone I started the series from 2.

I'm not saying the graphics were better compared to the old RE games, but to the OTHER games that were released with it's time. I'd be more afraid of something coming towards me with a knife, pitchfork, dynamite, then a stupid moaning zombie.

And in the old RE games you don't even need to hit them, they're almost always too few and too slow. And just tackle the zombies, it's the equivalent of the "karate kick".

vgcharts seems VEEEERY reliable (total sarcasm)

You think whatever you want, don't play the game. I respect your decision, I will and have fun.

where do you hear this? cause i hear alot of people praising it. seems to me you hear the people you know bashing it and I hear the people i know prasing it. making your statment avery unrealiable representation of the fan base and hate base for it. But numbers wise there are alot more people who play RE now since 4 came out. Thats not opinion its fact. Go to it's page on any game site and if you find one that has a majority of hate instead of praise you let me know and i'll admit i was a scrub who didnt know what i was talking about
