if they do its less common so far, but do what i've told most ppl, don't but that intercooler cause it'll draw too much power from your power supply, and keep it well ventilated and away from any other heat source. Mine 360 is about 3-4 feet away from my tv and i keep a fan going if i am playing it.

The 3 ROD is caused by cheap and faulty Mobos.

Microsoft has taken upon themselves to change the existing Mobos in all new 360s.

However Microsoft is still using the cheapest parts and labor money can buy. So go figure.

Loud Xbox? Your games getting scratched? Cheap DVD-Drive

Xbox Breaks? Cheap parts

Microsoft is to blame yet they take no responsibility because they only want one thing. Money.

I've had 2 premiums that RROD'd on me. Thereafter, I then brought an Elite and has been working smoother with no freezing (knock on wood). i feel you are safer with the latest 360's that came out, whether or not it is an Elite or not.

Since the Elite uses essentially the same parts as the new HDMI Premiums (except they're painted black and have the big HDD) there is no reason why an Elite will be any less likely to RROD than any other 360. However, a new console you buy today whether Elite, Premium or Core/Arcade, will have a lower chance of failing than earier consoles because since the 360 was launched an extra heatsink has been added (for the GPU apparently), the manufacturer of the DVD drives has changed (twice?) and they have changed the type of solder used (the original type could crack with prolonged exposure to heat which was - as you might imagine - causing a lot of RRODs in the heat-prone 360)
