Yes I'm scared to buy a 360 because I'm afraid Ill get the RROD.

Sure they would replace it if breaks during the 3 years after I bought it, but what will happen after?

What if I get the RROD after the 3 years? My 360 is going to be a giant paperweight :(

In 3 years I'll still lwant to play my xbox 360 games, I still play on my NES, my PS1 and my N64, they all work perfectly and I never had problems with them.

So I'm scared to buy a xbox 360 :/

Do some research and find out. Just because your 360 breaks after 3 years doesnt mean its unfixable.

I know, but I'll have to pay more money.

I never had to pay anything for my 3 other consoles and they work perfectly years after being discontinued.

Trust me, 360's now dont RROD near as much as they use too. People make to big of a deal over this. Yes it happened more then we want but look at how many 360's have been sold. Dont worry man, go out and buy one and i garentee you will be more then happy.

I heard the nex 360's have some chip put in em to reduce the chances of the RROD but I bet you, you will get the RROD sometime over it's lifespan.

If you're that worried then don't buy one. I've had mine for two years and no problems here. There's no guarantee any electrical equipment will last forever. If you look after it it should be fine.

As long as you take care of the XBOX 360, there's a 99% chance you won't get RROD.

I love how people say it will have a better chance of not breaking if you "take care of it." It doesn't matter how well you take care of it, it can still break just as easily. ANYWAY, it is very unlikely you will encounter any problems nowadays.

What if you trip and fall down? What if your girlfriend leaves you for another guy? What if Blu ray wins the format war? What's your point really?

Don't listen to someone with this kind of grammar. Every 360 is still a 360 and will still get the RROD. M$ has been working on the issue and have released a new chipset *65nm*. This keeps the 360 cool so it will not over heat as much but there still is a chance that it will over heat. Just make sure the 360 you buy is made after the month of November.

You shouldn't worry about that too much because on the new models, microsoft has fixed the hardware. Although there is still a chance for RROD, it is much less than if you were to buy a release model.

I'm on my 4th model, and I treat mine like an idol of gold.

Of course, the first three were made almost a year ago. Thankfully the new one I picked up today has HDMI support and a manufacturing date of 11/27, so maybe the hardware in this system is much more efficient. Needless to say, however, MS makes poor, poor hardware. But if you purchase the 360 at a wholeseller like Costco or Sam's, they might offer a PRP. GameStop doesn't anymore due to the 3-year warranty offered by MS.

Yeah, the 360 has a terrible defective percentage, but the time I've spent on the system more than makes up for the inconvenience involved with returns (I've always used GameStop PRPs - not anymore *cry*).

Here's an objective review and I can talk from experience as I'm fixing my 3rd as we speak (probably sending me a 4th one). The people that tell you that if you take care of it, it won't break are FOS, trust me! The 360 has the best games library as well as the best live experience but the hardware is the worst ever created and that includes ANY piece of electronics, that's a fact. So if you can't wait 3-5 weeks every time it breaks and wait for another to come I wouldn't buy it but on the other hand you'll be missing the best gaming experience. I encourage you to buy one, maybe an elite (haven't heard too many of these break) or wait a few months until all the old ones are sold. These are the real facts, It's your call.

Well, you never know...

Your Life could be over tomorrow.

Your car might blow up.

You might fall down the stairs, and die.

But, that's just a life.

So, if you are scared of buying xbox 360, then don't buy it.

3 years is a long time and I've had mine for two years and no RROD, i'd guess that if it's going to happen, it's going to happen within the 3 years. if you're that worried just buy it and keep it for 3 years, and then right when the warranty is up sell it and get a new one???

by the way the 3 other systems you mentioned are a lot less complex so that's why they didn't have the problems that the 360 has...wait my NES never worked..it blinked a blue screen all the time. my 360 is more reliable.

Just take the risk. They recently started putting better heatsinks in the 360's, so the RROD is less likely to happen.

Its fixable, and completely avoidable if you attach some extra fans to it. And recent models don't have the problem, plus all the defective ones were recalled. Buy one.

I've had too many break, but they do keep fixing them. From everyone I've talked too most of the ones breaking have an older mfg date, late 2005 early 2006. If I had it to do over again I'd still buy one, great system and games, despite 5 of them crapping out on me.

3 years is a long time.

And at least it GUARANTEED to work for that long, not so with other systems.

I say go for it.
