~can be faster loading times
~less noise from dvd drive ~your disc aint runing 24/7 causing less tear on your dvd drive
~if your xbox tips while playing it wont destory the disc as it's not runing ~if u got old xbox the dvd drive slow down the process of burning games
~your xbox runs mat a cooler rate (you can tell the differnces lol by feeling the bottom and feeling the air thats coming out in the back while game being played from hard drive vs disc
con
~idk i guess wear and tear more on your hard drive
This, plus improved game performances on games like GTA IV, and I think it gets rid of texture pop in, am I right?well it mainly all pro's pro's

not really. on gta 4, loading times and framerate is better, but texture pop-in is worse.
For those who don't know:
It's very simple to load the game onto the hard drive when you are in the new dashboard. Just follow these quick steps:

Well on average I think it takes up about 6 Gig. So that's not too much, depending on how big your HDD is. If you got a 20Gig HDD then yeah that's a bit much. But it's not much if you got the 60 or 120Gig.

AgreeI know there is a warning on halo 3 not to install it. are there any other games this is a bad idea for?

There is a warning not to install Halo 3? Wtf?
yeah the first time you put halo in after the nxe is installed it gives you a message saying it makes the game load slower etc. If its bad for one game its probably bad for at least a few more. why just halo?there's something wrong with my modem and i still dont hav the update, I wanna kno how much hard-drive my games take (my games are Gears of War 2 , halo 3, Call of duty 4 and Gta4) and details about how those games run would be really appreciatted :)franciscochicho
I think in general they all run smoother. GTA4 definitely goes a lot smoother so I hear. I think those games should take between 16 and 24 gigs altogether. Most likely nearer 24 gigs.

Overall, I've noticed little difference in load times, and no difference in performance. It just makes the system quieter.

thanks murj and romans828_2002 for the info,,,, I hav another doubt: let say you have a disc thats a little damaged and sometimes u experience a bit of freezing in the games when u install em will they run like the disc was never damaged?franciscochicho
Yes. My friend who had GTA4 was annoyed because it kept freezing and generally buggering up during gameplay. But after he installed it to the hard drive, he said it played better than when the disc had no scratches in before. So in a sense, it's better than new :P

In which case it might atually take more than 24 gigs; nearer 28.

yah when you put a game on your harddrive it slows you down when online. thats why online games tell you not to do it

I'm led to believe it's more because the way the game was designed and the streaming nature of the levels, that installing it on to the HDD cause LONGER load times. I can't remember specifics, but there are lists that tell you the install size for most games and some of the benefits/drawback/effects of installation on the game.
Your xbox makes way less sound,
but the loading times can be faster (especiallyif you have an old xbox console), when you delete the game it leaves a few hundreds MB less hdd space, it tends to have fewer frame rates and the game freezes a lot more.
You should instal it, but only when you are playing the game for a while, elkse the lost HDD space is a total waste.
