I just found out about Bladestorm, and I'm pretty interested. I'm aware that the game is old, and it has mixed reviews, but that doesn't stop my desire to buy it. Has anyone here played it? Is it any good?
There's still a demo for it on the XBL marketplace. I only played the demo 3 or 4 times, but it seemed like it could've been a lot of fun if you could get past the terrible voice acting. Also, the controls took a good deal of getting used to.
Bladestorm isn't bad, it's tactical with a good challenge. You basically play a mercenary, who you can create with basic character creation options like gender choice and more, in the era known in history as the Hundred Year War, or War Of Roses, and you take contracts to work for either side of the conflict. The game is a third person RTS kind of game where you take control of various kinds of soldiers, as well as your main character who leads whichever soldier type you use at the time, and go into battle. Each solider type has strengths and weaknesses, it's a kind of triangle like system where one kind of soldier will be strong, average or weak against other soldier types. Like swordsmen being pretty weak against Calvary types while spearmen will be stronger against Calvary. It's a good game, not perfect, but enjoyable. It can be hard to resist calling out 'CHARGE!' when you and your selected soldier type smash into your opponent. It's a single player game, no multi player.
Bladestorm was the very first game I bought with my 360. It is a pretty good game. While you can definately see the age of the game while playing it, you should have a fun time with it.
