its not , its great fun to fight against zombies and combines . its not scary just one mission , makes me creepy but not scaring .. "We dont go to Ravenholm" I love this mission and i played it 100 times and still playing , its just making you creepy but not scared . Theres another mission too , i dont remember the name of the mission but i know that you are going into a dark creepy tunnel with your car and the tunnel is blocked by cars and theres zombies out there , its a little scaring but if you run and dont look back xD it wont be scary xD buy it , orange box rocks (wow i should write a song)
I wouldn't say it was scary, but I've played through it too many times to be surprised by it. Ravenholm is probably the creepiest level for new players - a town full of zombies, and the first few encounters with the fast zombies will probably give you a shock, but apart from that nothing particular nasty or frightening.
Not really, I got a bit of a fright by one of the guards though. I kept walking into him for fun and I walked away, I turned around and he was right behind me. It's a great game though, you should get it.
Not scary in a 'horror' sort of way(though Ravenholm comes close), but its more a 'tense' sort of scariness that'll often keep you on your feet, especially during some of the sequences in Episodes 1 and 2.
as people have mentioned the Ravenholm section is "creepy" not really what i would call scary it just has an erie vibe to it, Half LIFE 2 is my favorite game of all time i would highlyrecommendthis game to anyone
Ravenholm is creepy. And the first time I encountered headcrabs when fleeing City 17 I got scared badly because of the zombies, and I didn't play the game for a week after that. I was caught off guard that's all.
Depends on what you think is scary. I know people that couldn't play the ravenholm part with all the mangled, hung, skinned, burnt corpses lying around, the screaming zombies chasing you on the rooftops, the hunchback guy covered in poisonous spiders and the crazy priest with his delirious sermons. *hint hint*
mostly not but one stage might be to some "we dont go to ravenholm" it has you in an abadoned part of the city at night fighting off monsters mostly by yourself but other than that no its like an a really good action flick.
I thought the ravenholm level was pretty creepy but other than that its not scary at all. One of my best games of all time and definatly worth getting.
It's not supposed to be but if you scare easy you may not like the Ravenholm part. Just get a saw blade with the gravity gun and it'll give you a better sense of security.
The games' atmosphere can get very tense and creepy. The lack of music at times can really add to the overall feel of desperation. You will love Half Life 2.
Probably the scariest part is Ravenholm, but if you turn your speakers off during the level it will minimize the AAARRGGHH A ZOMBIE!!!!!!!!!! factor. :)
