Imo Halo 3 is garbage and has the worst xbl community also.
Darkslayer16
Agreed.
The first Halo was great. But that's because it was an Xbox launch title. It had the tightest controls of any console FPS I had played up to that time, and made consoles FPS games what they are today.
That being said, it just hasn't evolved. Every time I play Halo 3, it feels like playing Doom or Wolfenstein, but without the nostalgia.
Graphics, I can care less about. But if I was to judge, Halo 3's aren't impressive.
As far as the community is concerned, I'm just not gonna say anything...save myself a suspension.
i think halo is a great game to play. its fun to play with friends and online. i don't know why people say this game is a dissapiontment i guess cuz they did not want to team up with that alien dude i forgot his name lol i would say its one of the best first person shooter games out there.
i really didnt like halo 3 at all. i still own all 3 games but i get sick and tired of playing with dumb kids that think they know everything and there breath still smells like PET milk. i really havent liked multiplayer halo since part one when me and friends would system link and kick butt. no loosers gitching or cheating that way. i guess in whole im tired of any jack donkey that cheats or glitches online to win. what a candy donkey some people can be.
Not a dissapointment at all, just more of the same gameplay as Halo2. Which is great if you're a Halo fan. I personally prefer a more tactical shooter, without respawns. But Halo 3 is a very good, very enjoyable game, I just don't play it much anymore. I'm hoping ODST will have a more tactical multiplayer (no shields, no high jumping, maybe a cover system?) Also has the best multiplayer party/lobby system of any XBL game, other developers should license it. Btw, it's #2 on XBL: http://majornelson.com/Default.aspx
Which is pretty good for a game which has been out for 18 months, and I'm sure it will retake #1 when the new map pack comes out.
Didn't mind the campaign at all but online completely sucked... Or I did... one or the other.
volume_three
I am going to go with you did. The campaign was a little sub par but the online is aboslutely amazing. I think it is pretty obvious that this is not a "bad" game by the amount of people still playing it online it is all about what you prefer in an online shooter. If you want something more realistic play COD if you like arcade shooters than H3 is your cup of tea.
Halo 3 was never really a dissapointment to me. However, just because it's a great game doesn't make it completely infallable. The story wrapped up the trilogy well, but the story for Halo: CE was really fresh and original. After it's been done three times, it feels like it's a bit spent. This isn't to say I don't like the story either, it still rocked.
The multiplayer is awesome. The only complaint I have isn't even about Matchmaking, but about the retarded custom games most prepubescents insist on playing. Some of it's fun, I admit, but when I see people who've played 1000+ custom games and are still a lieutenant rank, I can't help but roll my eyes.
Really though, I think the two people that bring Halo down are:
1. PS3 owners: The PS3 has plenty of good games (Killzone 2, Resistance 2, MGS4, LBP), so leave Halo alone FFS
2. Overzealous Halo fanboys: Needless to say, these guys seem to believe Halo 3 is some sort of perfect god, of which there is no other. I have news for you guys: HALO ISN'T THE ONLY AWESOME GAME OUT THERE! Get used to it and quit yer' whining.
So, Halo is great. Not perfect, of course, but great nonetheless. You can dis it as much as you want, I'll just let you know that you're wrong ;).
hahahah no crap of course.......it had like the most hype out of this generation of games.....and me just coming into the series with halo3 thought itwas going tobe pretty impressive...bein the 3rd in the series and for the next gen and all....but i was wrong.....i was personally dissapointed....but i got it for free so idc im sold it for $50 hahahah now that was worth a nice sac and i deff wasnt dissapointed with that
As much as I hate it sometimes Halo 3 is probly one of the greatest shooters made. Although the "game of the century" tagline on the box is a bit over rated.
Story (especially if youve read the books) is awesome.
Mulitplayer is amazing but also very frustrating at times. The amount of trash talking kids is insane, not only that though but a lot of older people are usually really aggresive and I swear some just go on to start arguments over xbl.
Forge and theatre modes are definitly part of the thing that makes Halo 3 such a good game. Some of the more popular gametypes like griftball are a brilliant example of halo being more than just a shooter, and fun games like jenga and floorboards. Infection is epic too.
The graphics are suprisingly good, its hard to tell when actually playing the game, especially since most team games have plain blue and plain red armor. Watching on theatre mode though on a big HD TV with the interface taken off and some of the detail really shines through especially on weapons and lighting.
Weapons are another great thing, halo is probly one of the most balanced competetive games on xbox. Most people would start by using the assualt rifle and melee but then as you learn the variety of stratergy is amazing.
Great machinimas are made with halo, like the matchmaking series.
The unpredictable moments are one of the best things about it though, blowing up a banshee and having a peice of it fly off and splatter another person for a double kill is awesome, or the classic shooting power coils and splattering someone with a traffic cone.
Overall great game. =] This might aswell been my review for it >__
i enjoyed it but i was still disapointed in it. Especially the graphics i thought it would have amazing graphics like other shooter games.
The main complaint I hear is that it's too similar (as far as gameplay goes) to past installments. Luckily for me, this is my first Halo game... therefore it is great.
Personally i never really liked halo 3 that much and i only enjoyed it for the first couple of weeks before it got that repetitive feeling. I guess its all a matter of what a person likes and doesn't like. I found Team Fortress 2 to be a much funner game yet it didn't have a single player or as many maps.

Agreed. Same with me. I liked it for the first...maybe 3 weeks? But after that, boring. I played Team Fortress for a while too, but that also got repetitive with the lack of maps. You can only play 2Fort for so long...
For multiplayer shooters, I like COD and Rainbow Six. Even GRAW, to me, was more fun than Halo when the spawn killing wasn't too out of hand.
Halo3 was great, then it turned to crap. They expect me to spend way too much extra on map packs. The game community is Racist, Sexist AND homophobic trash. It is overcompetitive. Ranking turned to crap. Story was alright, but got real boring after a short time, playing through on every difficulty made me want to give myself a lobotomy, especially hearing Guilty Spark chanting at me endlessly. I turned it in and got L4D and CoD:WaW with the cash. Was worth it. WaW is a similar trash community with only a slightly more complex (if at all) gameplay customization. Left 4 Dead was epic in many many ways. But, to tell the truth, Halo3 was not a disappointment. The XBL community was. Players and fanboys trashed the game. Not bungie.phynixblackI don't call it cr@p, but it did have the worst community in all games. I just hate how these people in Halo 3 have to talk trash to you when i did nothing to them, especially the little kids on the game. All i have to say is Halo 3 is a good game, but the community do sucks @ss.
I love Halo 3! But however, I need to fix my disc today, everytime I join a lobby it kicks me out and no error message pops up or anything!
Or it's racist! jk
Although it is a blast I was expecting a much epic story, campaign, and maps. Bungie hyped the game up like crazy and saying this would be like the Return of the King(the third LOTR film was a great success over its predecessors), but it just left me a little dissatisfied. It is still one of my favorite game though but I wanted a more deeper story in and climatic ending instead instead of what I got.
Light years BETTER than halo? lol don't you mean ahead? 'Cause if you mean ahead in graphics yea but not light years, the only thing it's really changed is the evolving multiplayer modes, which is quite interesting but Halo 3 (in my eyes) is still ahead of the pack as far as multiplayer goes since most of the stuff you do on there I believe I've only ever seen in computers (cause of mods) with forge for example. As for campaign, well from what I've heard it's story isn't as great but the action seems more spread out and AI is a bit more cunning (like I said from what I've heard).killzone 2 is light years better than halo.

In my opinion Halo 3 is still one of the best games out there after what, 2 years. I mean people think the gameplay is old but its great in my opinion and they also say the graphics also suck but they impressive to me. So is halo a dissapointment or not?THEMAN294Ya it sure is a disappointment, i mean they only have had 1 billion games played online. I mean honestly what game doesnt have 1 billion games played online? And its also the game that sold the most copies that was exclusive to a single game console. We all know Halo 3 was the most disappointing game ever released. I only played the game for about a year. If it was a worthwhile game I'd have played it for TWO years. Its kinda sad how Halo 3 set the bar for every other video game's multiplayer to compete with. All and all i think Bungie should just shut down and never make a game again. If you cant tell by now that i am being sarcastic then you sir are an idiot. Halo 3 is a disappointment is like saying the Nintendo Wii has the most superior graphics.

for all of the people complaining about the community why dont you just mute them or go in a party with some freinds.
d-high29
Telling someone that they can stay in their house and have friends over doesn't change the fact that they live in a crappy neighborhood. It's about once a week I have to mute someone in Team Fortress.
I really enjoyed Halo 3. Everyone likes different types of games, so if you like it, then great. If not, shut up and play something that you do like. The internet has allowed for communities of losers to arise who have nothing better to do than badmouth everything that is considered popular by the mainstream. Look at the reviews by the pros if you want to get a general idea of the technical quality of the game, then play whatever suits your tastes.
Well since I dont play often enough to warrant buying the DLC for the game, and since the only gametype I would actually prefer to play requires you to have DLC, I feel disappointed and therefore not play the game. Though the overall product was fun I felt that it didnt last long since I got caught onmy games such as the Orange Box, and Call of Duty 4. Halo 3 just dosent get enough love.
agreed, the online was good for like 2 months, and the story was f'ning terrible. It is a dissapointment.
insane_metalist
I rebuy games that i find revolutionary to show my support to developers. I would play Bungie full price to take the halo 3 BACK.
To me, Halo 3 is more than just a disappointment. Halo 2 was better in every way. I loved it. For that matter, I liked San Andreas better than GTA 4. Hell, I seemed to have more fun with the previous generation than this one.
But anyway. To me, Halo 3 is a broken, unfinished, short game that disappoints on a game series I literally grew up with. I've been through many many little details about what aggravates me so much about Halo 3. To explain it in an easy way.... after playing Halo for a round or two, I'm aggravated that no one seems to be noticing the obvious problems with the game that I do. It's almost to the point that I think it's MY XBOX ONLY that's causing it. Basically, you die for untold reasons and can never explain how you did in Halo 3. In Halo 2, when I died, I could explain it. In COD4, when you die, you generally understand why, learn from it, and feel better for the experience. In Halo 3, at least for me, I spend my time trying to just get a grasp of it. It's really a poorly made FPS, with bad controls, and maybe it's just that I've played so many games, including basically ALL the best PC shooters -- which might be leaving me (and none of the other non-PC enthusiast gamers) asking WTF, naming ways that other shooters have done things better that Bungie should have encorporated, and dieing with boredom and aggravation. It makes me crave playing COD4. Not to mention, the community and *ahem* age range Halo 3 attracts..... is a fierce turn-off to anyone who has already passed puberty themselves. Games like Rainbow Six Vegas and COD4... those are great communities. At the time of me writing this, Halo Wars is out, and I'm impressed with it. It rejuvenates my Halo experience. But I really had hoped for something better than Halo 3 to end the series on.
I'm also one of those people that think the graphics in Halo 3 aren't the leap they should've been. Halo 2 was INCREDIBLE. But. I'm also one of those few people that understand hardware limitations and that to implement the live video recording that Bungie has done, and to have the game play so smoothly, that graphics had to be sacrificed. The map sizes are certainly bigger and better than the first Gears of War game - to which I blame whoever is responsible for engineering console hardware that spend millions on developing great new processors (like the Cell processor) or GPU units (Xbox 360 and PS3 had incredible graphics units when they were released) ....... BUT SKIMPING ON THE CHEAPEST COMPONENT, THE RAM. Seriously. RAM is much cheaper than other components. And if they wouldn't try to cut it short on every console to date, we might have enough RAM to design maps more to the sizes of Battlefield 2142 maps - and give those nice triple core processors and GPUs something to work with.
Sorry. Back to the point. I love Halo, always have. But I wish someone could explain to me what's wrong or at least different from Halo 2. Is it a faster frame rate, HD tv, and different controller that are messing me up? I know if the game employed some type of lag compensation, like Enemy Territory for the PC, then I'd be a much happier person. I have a very beefy cable connection, and fantastic ping. That's not the problem. When I shoot someone on my screen, I want that to count. I don't wan to "lead my shots" because in this modern day of games, I shouln't have to. This is not 1999 Unreal Tournament on a 56k aol dialup connection, trying to hit a guy with rockets while running about 5 times as fast as you do in Halo. Which is another thing - you run too slow in Halo. It's boring. It puts me to sleep. Halo is not a tactical game like Rainbow Six, and should not have the run speed as such.
Still though, I'll be trying to like Halo 3, hard. Especially since Halo Wars came out, I really miss the good old days. It sounds nerdy, I know. But if you're reading this, then you're already in that same position.
