Is Halo best console shooter ? . Or goldeneye ( n64) ? Or Perfect Dark ( n64) ?

I consider Halo best console shooter EVER amongst all consoles for vechiles , campaign and multiplayer .

To be honest, I've never played Goldeneye. I had an N64 when I was a little kid but I only played Super Mario 64. Out of what I've played, Halo is the best console shooter out there, with Call of Duty 4 a little bit behind it.

it's definitely the best when it comes to content in a console FPS. I know that's for certain.

maybe you should limit it to Xbox only, then it'd make it a lot easier

No I wouldn't even say that it was the best of it's generation that would be Half Life 2 in my opinion.

I would say no. In my opinion COD4 changed the entire game, and be mindful I'm not a COD fanboy.

I don't like Halo, so obv it's not the best shooter available on consoles IMO.

No one can honestly answer this because "EVER" would mean all shooters ever made.......& sincethere are games still being made, we can't honestly give you a true answer.I will say that Goldeneye 64 will forever remain one of my top shooters.

If the idea is that you're actually having fun while your playing and continue to do so long after each release than yes Halo is the best console shooter ever.

I think what a lot of people say Goldeneye for was the trigger finger fire button on the N64 controller... it was a fair game but that trigger finger button made it a lot more special than it actually was.

I believe Halo revolutionized fps more than any other game in my opinion. It incorporated a meaningful campaign, vehicles, multiplayer, online match-making (eventually), and the ability to bring players on the local console online under one Live account without suffering bandwidth (eventually). Not to mention the good graphics, responsive controls, and how fun it was to pick up and play. No other console shooter had even come close to doing all of those things when Halo first came out. Remember there were good modern fps before Modern Warfare like the Rainbow Six series to name one.

no, not even close. It's the most basic, by the numbers shooter there is, with the bare minimum game mechanics, little to no story that isn't even good.

I would say theses are all great games and they come close. Ive never played golden eye because i was a little kid when i had my n64 and i wasnt alowed to play shooters. I just bought perfect dark zero for $2 yesterday. Halo is one of my favorites. Id say halo 3 is probably the best console shooter, but im not a big halo fan. I enjoy the games though. I cant really call any game that the best ever, because ever implies all of time. I am a big battlefield fan right now, but as far as an arena shooter and co-op campain halo 3 fits the best console shooter ever. OOOooooo but also loved RSV... still id say halo 3 had a really good everything.

They did just about everything right. From my unnderstanding, halo is used for mlg than any other game.

Halo games are amazing and I would say they might be the best shooters. But Call of Duty does a few things better. Call of Duty games have a better cover system and faster kills. But Halo has Call of Duty beat in the story deportment.

Wow TC, No, just....no

Well... I would have to say yes. For various reasons.

Combat Evolved revolutionized the console FPS . Sure many came before it, but none were able to deliver a PC level competitive experience that worked well on a console. CE paved the way for series like Call of Duty and Battlefield to become what they are today outside of the PC market.

Halo 2 was the game that really launched the online multi player aspect of console shooters. It made playing with people around the world possible. All while providing one of the most balanced, competitive, and enjoyable FPS experiences console owners have ever seen. Everyone who has played a shooter online knows how important that experience is to the genre. Halo 2 was able to deliver that before pretty much everyone else.

Halo 3 didn't do much in the way of revolutionizing the genre. It just expanded on what CE and H2 had done.

After that it kind of went down hill. ODST did literally nothing new for the series, and Reach borrowed too much from other games in the genre. But for what Halo CE and Halo 2 did for the FPS genre on consoles, I still hold the Halo series as the best shooter series outside of the PC market. I hope that Halo 4 can go back to it;s roots and provide us with something new. The FPS genre s becoming far to repetitive now.

I have never had more fun than in Halo. Halo 1 was by far the best couch co-op game this world has seen, and Halo 2, 3, and Reach were each a step up from the last in terms of multiplayer supremacy.

Also, a special mention to ODST, one of my favorite Halos. It nailed a totally different game type (tactical shooter as opposed to run and gun)while using the exact same game mechanics. A task that not many games try.

I would have to agree. Halo series is the best console shooter. I have all the halo games (even Halo Wars even though it is not a FPS) This is addictive fun. I've all nighted on Halo 2,3 Reach more that any other game on Xbox. Loved the Halo CEanniversary edition. Halo is a great series. Which has help MS Xbox live grow since it debuted.

I think that it's the best and if not, easily in the top 3. The games mechanics works for high level ultra competitive, but are still fun. Also the amount of content and quality of the content is easily unmatched by any FPS.
