You can agree or disagree that Halo is the best console shooter ever, but don't follow it with 'MW3 is pretty good, I would say it's better than Halo.' I don't want to sound like a Halo fanboy, but the only reason anyone would ever like the MW series over Halo is because they suck at any FPS that ISN'T Call of Duty. Call me cocky, but I am not wrong.. it's a proven and consistent fact that Halo takes much more skill than any CoD game out there. I would go as far as to say that Halo is the best console shooter released to this date, but that's just my opinion. CarnageV1And a game that takes more thinking and skill than any of the games you listed is the R6V series and GR series. I don't get why people like that mindless run and gun crap. Tactical Shooter comes first for me as far as best console shooter. Next, CODMW was not like MW2 or MW3.... That game took an immense amount of skill unlike the later installments. They had Modern Watrfare 1 set up perfectly, but it wasn't easy and accessible to the masses so they dumbed it down with MW2. If you say Halo was harder than MW1 than you are crazy. You should have tried playing it at the competitive level. Halo is soley based on weapons almost. One: do you know how to use the weapon/combo with it. Two: can you get to a weapon and control it first. Three: Can you run around like a jackass and kill people before they kill you. Games that put people on a level playing field (Not including that killstreak crap in MW2 and MW3) and require you to think and come up with strategies will always be above a weapon based game in my book. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed Halo... It just gets old to run to the same part of the map everytime to get a weapon etc.

Halo maps have almost no depth as well.... They are poorly designed, or I guess you could say they are designed for constant clash. There is almost no room for strategy or sneaking around. There isn't a shooter I haven't played and I guess this is my real problem with Halo. Halo 1 and 2 were amazing and ahead of there time. They were molding the shooter world and then they made reproduction after reproduction of the same game. Other games evolved past Halo because Halo simply hasn't evovled. It's still a grassroots outdated shooter. They don't offer opportunities for quick sniping(not quick scoping), the maps are too open and don't require people to spread out, they design maps around a central area(to insure there is a lot of clash at that point), it is repetitive. I have never really played Halo online and had the thought "That was different cross my mind." There is no room for utilizing the map for different strategies. There is simply 1 or 2 strategies possible.
It's definitely the best for online multiplayer but there have been plenty with better campaignsRTCWGR1SCRB6H2
I actually dont enjoy Halo multiplayer, but quite like the single-player aspects. Interesting story(unlike 99% of games) and the AI is pretty well-done so it makes the fights fun.
I cant get into the online multiplayer, though. I'm not a fan of all the jumping around and how long it takes to kill somebody. Plus, the guns aren't very loud and dont feel like they have a big impact when you shoot them. I appreciate the skill involved, but its not fun for me.
