They are nothing alike. Halo is a first person shooter. Mass effect is a action role-playing game.

Lol, but I thought that was what drove people to it, didn't really understand why an FPS would continue on to the fourth one without there actually being a special twist to it :/

It's because what it does it does really well and manage to tweak up the experience. Halo 3 may not have been the most innovative game, but it finished the story and brought the series to the modern generation. Halo Wars was a RTS that took place in the universe, ODST was a shooter that didn't have you playing as a souped-up cyborg but the best of the normal people while having a different focus than other games, while Reach was a prequel that many feel was the best one since the first game. Technically Halo 4 is the 7th game to bear the name, but it's been a while since they've moved forward chronologically, plus it's back to the familiar characters.

Awesome reply, basically I wanted to know since it's one of the only reasons I'm' getting a 360 and was wondering what Halo really was as i haven't really been into that section in gaming that much :P thanks for replies :D :D
