I do own an HDTV I must say there is a difference between SDTV and HDTV but I don't think it is a must get right. You see more little details like sweet dripping from a player in basketball games or you see more particals flying around but it dosent feel like a new game if you go from SDTV to HDTV. Im not trying to knock HD cause I love mine and I would not go back to SD but if you are planning on buying one just because you own a console(s) than if might not be worth it right now.

It may sound like im contridicting myself but I suggest everyone get one if you have the money to spare, if not keep buying games.

Well I don't have HD and I don't have the cash to get one. The closest thing I have would be playing through the LCD or LCD TV. But playing in HD is definitely an eye candy.

If you are a gadget freak chances are you already own atleast one HDTV. So im trying to get the message to those who just want to upgrade their game entertainment system.

I hear ya. :)

My dream setup would be a 50"+ HDTV and 7.1 surround system in a sound proof room. Sweet!

HD Gaming is not important to me ONLY because I don't have the money to buy the TV I want. If I did I would own one right now.

As it is I can afford the system and games but not the set so I went with the system/games for now.

Maybe you have a bad tv...IT makes a huge difference. especially on a larger tv.under 30 inches it still makes a difference but the larger you go, the more important HD becomes.

Play dead Rising and then tell me HD is not require, you can barely understand what there saying and the subtitles are cut off on a SD T.V.

Interesting topic.

I have to say that HD gaming IS important. Would I still game if I didn't have a gi-normous HDTV?? Yeah, probably. With that being said, I would much rather use an HDTV. One could argue that gameplay is what a game should be judged on but come on, would you rather play an Atari or a 360?? The answer woould almost certainly be '360' for anybody. Why? Because it looks better!! I think the same comparison could be made between HD and SD although my example was a little extreme.

Funny story. I had to exchange my first 360 for a new one due to RROD. I was using a Best Buy warranty so the swap only took 30 minutes before I was gaming again. So I played on it for a couple of months and found myself thinking 'Man, I'm getting jaded with next gen already. These graphics just don't look that impressive anymore.' Another month or so goes by and I continue to play..........before I thought to check the HD switch on my 360 cables!!! I was in such a hurry when I got my new one that I FORGOT to turn the HD on!!!

Point being that I did play just fine without HD but found it MUCH more enjoyable with HD. It was like a light came down from heaven with soft angelic signing. Talk about eye opener.

I don't think that it is important but it certainly is fantastic. I couldn't imagine going back to SD gaming once I have been spoiled by HD.

obviously if your eyesight isnt perfect and your not wearing glasses your eyes are gonna be a bit blurry so i know you can tell the difference but it is true that itll still be a bit harder.

I couldn't go back to using Sdtv, but someone who isn't used to HD will more than likely be satisfied with an Sdtv picture

I have $4835 in my HDTV fund and I have still not gotten one. Every month they come out with a new model and they still suck. when they come out with a model that is worth the thousands of dollars I will get one. Right now I am fine with my 37inch JVC SD and I would rather spend my money on content like movies, channels, games, consoles. But hey thats me.

I played in SD for maybe 5 or 6months? Then I bought my 27" LCD HDTV and now I don't think I'd ever be able to go back to SD.. Yeah it's not "needed" but neither are a lot of things in life. If you have the money and you want a HDTV go for it, it's not something you'll regret.. Chances are HD is going to be around for a very very long time, so intime it'll pay itself off.

Just want to add that getting the VGA cable and using a pc monitor is a much less expensive HD alternative to buying an HDTV. If you are playing in a bedroom or at a desk it is perfect. The cable is only $40 or so and you probably already have the PC Monitor available (even if you don't you can get a really, really nice 22 inch widescreen monitor for roughly the same price as a 360).

I would be pretty mad if a 360 game wasn't HD so I guess it does matter to me.
