So ive recently bought a new hi def tv and figured i would go out and buy a HDMI cable for my xbox 360 when i went to futureshop i saw the official microsoft HDMI cable for $50 and just a regular one for like $20 so is it worth it spending the extra money for the "official" HDMI cable?

Even $20 is too much. I bought a 6ft HDMI cable off of amazon for $4, with shipping. NEVER buy HDMI cables in store.

If you really want the best (in terms of quality), there are better cables.. you could get a Monster for that price. Other than that, you'll be better off buying online.

The difference with a microsoft xbox 360 HDMI cable is that it comes with a Xbox 360 HDMI Audio Adapter this is ideal if you are planning on connecting a seperate audio device such as a home cinema kit or wireless headphones, but as long as the HDMI cable upscales to 1080p and is the right length then it should do fine.

My HDMI cable cost me 4.99 i think. The only advantage the Microsoft one gives is that it comes with another cable allowing you to use optical audio with the 360. But i just plug my optical straight into the TV, so it doesn't affect me.

Don't buy either of them. Get a cheap cable. An HDMI cable is an HDMI cable. If you spend $10 on one, you're getting ripped off.

Buy a cheap HDMI cable from Amazon.
Price in cables makes no diffrence. CNET use $3 cables when they review tvs and they say it makes no diffrence.

no, buy the cheapest you find. any cable over $20 is ripping you off and the industry in general will continue to take advantage of the consumer.

even ethernet cables after all these years are given bogus pricings.

Get one on Amazon for 3 bucks. I have 2 and they're just as good as any other. Any hdmi cable over 10 bucks is overpriced when you can get one for 3 dollars total.
