i want to get a headset for xbl but im afraid it will be like my old ps2(you have to hold down the button as you speak, which gets really annoying) with the xbl headset can you just talk without holding any buttons, which will create alot more talking to keep the game going, someone plz clear this up for me
you can either turn it on so that you can talk non stop or you can turn it off and just listen but you do not have to push a button. I havent played my ps2 online in forever so i dont exactly remember the headset but yeah.

Wrong. You will not get kicked for not talking. I haven't had a headset for the longest. And communication doesn't really matter when you play with random people in each match. You'll do fine without a headset.

Yep, i know whenever I host I boot mic-less people. Most games I know of now don't need a button to talk, but games like Halo 2 let you talk in a proximity where anyone can hear you, then you can press the button to talk to your whole team. Having a headset is essential, period.

You usually won't get kicked from online games, it's just gonna be harder to communicate with peeps for sure. Having a headset makes multiplayer games feel better, since you are able to verbally communicate. People like to hear people rather then not hear them. Though some games like Uno, I never use my headset for. :P
I recommend playing competitive matches (Ridge Racer, etc) with players speaking foreign languages. Whether you speak or not it's quite entertaining and less distracting.

In my opinion, it's not really needed, but it's being more and more used now of days so I dunno what the right thing to do is (whether or not to wear a headset).
I would recommend you get a headset. They aren't expensive and they are very useful in some games. Communication is a good thing on xbox live.Caddy06_88

That is wrong, its discrimnation. They suck if the kick you for not talking, Mybe your Vocal Chords were ripped out.......
I Dont talk during games, if im playing a team game, ill let the tohers know i have a mic, but i dont talk unless its needed.

Well mostly i play with friends who i know and have a great laugh talking to. Gaming is fun, so i find it fun when online playing Gears with loads of friends and just having a laugh. There has been times with kids that act so stupid (not all kids on games are bad), any problems can be sorted with a simply "mute" option. I would rather talk with my team than be silent.
