Does it make much of a difference if you install the game on your hardrive. I was told it does not realy help, it does not lower load times much and you still need the disk to play the game. I have an elite and iam loaded with hard drive space as most of you with elites are .

Some games it helps and some games it doesn't. Also it reduces heat so that's a plus and your disc drive isn't constantly spinning.

IF you have the space it's worth it to install most games because at least it reduces noise and heat. Some games have less load times but the difference is barely noticeable for most.

Trust me, if you hate the noise as much as I do, install all your games.

yes there is a difference when installing a game, it reduces the NOISE!!! yes u still need the cd to play the game. just to ensure that u own the game and not something that u got the game from somewhere and copy it to ur hard drive and play it without paying the game.

I do it with games I am playing most at the time, it's worth it. Significantly quieter, significantly cooler, probobly saves you from dirty disc error and RROD.

Early Elites had louder disc drives, seriously, than the other 360's of the same time frame. So if you have an early Elite and you run the game from the HDD not the disc drive your system will be more quiet. My brother has one and it wasnoticeablylouder than my pro.

its helpful with large open world games but if you play a lot at night and dont want to wake the rest of your house it keeps your xbox quiet which means your TV volume doesnt need to be as loud if u still want to hear whats happening

Depends. I'd say it's worth it for single player games. But don't bother with multiplay games as you'll still have to wait for other player who havent installed said game to load stuff.

You guys must play your games on mute. I've never been able to hear my 360 while i'm in the middle of playing a game. I think its a waste of time. I installed Fallout 3 and it felt like it made ZERO difference at all outside of eating up like 6gb. I've installed another game and theres no noticeable difference either. I'll keep that one installed though. I played the old version so much (like well over 200 hours) that the disc eventually got messed up and I couldn't play single player without it running really weird. I hated single player so I didn't care at all, but I did want to show it to a friend once and I couldn't. Plus its only like 2.5 gb.

If you have an Elite then you might as well just install every game. It doesn't make much difference to many games in terms of load times, but the main bonus is less noise as the disc drive isn't spinning like mad

its alright i don't think it is as i don't see a difference in the two games i played left 4 dead and forza 2. i don't think any of those games had a really big difference in loading times.

i installed gta 4 on the hdd and it made the texture popup horrible. i'd drive down a road and the textures for the street and buildings would not load sometimes, at all. so i uninstalled the game and now it freezes a lot...

I love it, less noise and faster load time, noticable in 75% of games like Fallout 3 and GH.

ok hear me out. this is what ive noticed. playing from off the disc to harddrive, you wont notice any noise difference that much. BUT after a awhile when you are playing from off the harddrive back to disc. you will definitely notice a big difference to the noise. for example. i thought to myself, was it really that loud when i was playing off the disc before? i hope that made alot of sense.

Yes, I think it is definitely worth it if you already have plenty of space on your hard drive. Like others said, it doesn't reduce load times on all games, but it really does make a difference without the disc spinning, scratching and being unreadable often. I highly recommend the install feature.

It's worth it I think. Reduced noise, and reduced heat are both bonuses.
