Well Xbox Live is only $50 US, so if she already has the internet go and ahead and try to save up the money if you can can buy Live yourself. No it is not "useless" but it SOOO much better will it. Of course you will be able to play games single player. Gears, Halo 3, GTA IV, Rainbow Six: Vegas. But I would do everything you can to get xbox live if you can because it just makes the expeierence so much better.
I am on your side.
Take great offline RPGs like Oblivion for example! And I am sure I will be spending more time offline with GTA. I had live for a while, but if I wanted to use it, I had to move the 360 downstairs to be beside the router (which was annoying), and I haven't yet bothered getting a 20m ethernet cable (I don't think the wireless adaptor will work for me).Â
I didnt have live until recently, and was perfectly happy. I have R6: Vegas, Saints Row, Splinter Cell and Just Cause on the 360 and was itching to try MP.
Splinter Cell- No matches at all
Saints Row- an hour waiting, 2 other people, gave up
R6- Vegas- finally got into a match, didnt like much.
I am only keeping gold for Forza 2, which I would like to get this summer, or FlatOut Ultimate Carnage. I think Silver is fine if you dont generally go in for MP. The demos are good, as is Live Arcade. I bought a core system and MU and I highly reccomend you get an HDD. I got mine off ebay and I havent looked back.Â

Couldn't have said it better myself, sure live isn't the be all and end all but it sure does make gaming a much more open shared experience and definitely adds to the fun of playing, it also adds more gameplay hours to your games, before I had live I rarely had a game for more than a month before trading it in to get a new one whereas with live I have just kept my games becuae there always new and exciting online
The Xbox 360 is useless without LIVE.
Â
Imagine playing a 4 hour campaign, then nothing else to do.
Thus Microsoft charges for Xbox Live to make consumers angry, while others defend Microsoft insisting $50 is of no signifigance.
In any regard, gaming is getting outrageously expensive.
What 4 hour single player games are you playing :?The Xbox 360 is useless without LIVE.

[QUOTE="JohnWinger"]What 4 hour single player games are you playing :? GRAW2 took me four, five hours on the highest difficulty. the live turns a game like that into something more epic. The Xbox 360 is useless without LIVE.
