Is Xbox live worth 250$!?!?!?!

well i just bought an xbox arcade about 2 weeks ago, and i was recently shocked to find out that id have to pay 250$ to play online hard drive-100$ XBL subscription-50$ wirless adapter-100$

And thats just the service!!! no games, headsets,or point cards.... is it worth it??

take back your system and tell them it's broke, then come back with the Elite and just plug and play

This is why you get the the Xbox 360 Pro which includes a harddrive, headset, hd/av cable. Now you have to go out and buy all those other accessories. I say return it and get a Pro.Elann2008

I don't feel the least bit sorry for people who don't research what they are buying.

If you are within the return policy for the xbox, then take it back and EXCHANGE it for the Elite.

First off, if you planned to play online you really shouldn't have bought the asrcade in the first place and sohuld have researched what you wanted. Second you don't need the wireless adapter just buy a long ethernet cable. And yes live is worth the 50/year

Im also an idiot. I asked for the xbox 360 core for my 21st birthday ( worst gaming decision ever made)

so i had to pay 270$ of MY own money to get hooked up for Live.

But yeah its worth the 250. but i suggest trading it in for the Pro though;)

While this is true, it costs more altogether to get the Arcade version then shell out another $200 for accessories, when all you had to do was pay $70 more, get the Pro and save yourself the hassle. Now, if you were worried about money, the TC should have done the research, and you would know that you'd save a lot more time and money by getting the Pro version. The Elite may be pushing it. This assuming that you wanted to get on XBL.

i have one question for you my friend. Why did you fall for the ARCADE version of the xbox? either you don't have enough money for the elite or the premium. or you just dont' have the patience to wait for the xbox. well, xbox live is really worth every single penny. it's the best online serivce in console gaming. trust me. i see you have a wii logo, and playing xbox live will blow the wii out of the water hehe.

Anyways XBL Membership isn't expensive at all. I bought like 5 cards for $20 a piece, all you gotta do is find some deals and its not hard at all.

Should have done your homework. Buying a pro or Elite you don't have to buy the HDD an you can get by w/o the adapter unless your internet is totally wireless. There's a reason the Arcade version is scoffed at even by most lemmings, it really should be discontinued. I'm shocked there's anyone out there that would be shocked by this.

The Elite's HDD is $180. So yeah spending the extra $150 isn't so bad.

Just a tip: it's a good idea to do a little research before buying electronics

NO its not worth the price, but we dont have a choice, you cant play against friends without paying, maybe if it was half the price it was now i wouldnt complain, and its certainly a much superior service than what PSN and the Wii offer online, however im not saying its expensive i just think in comparison to the the likes of Steam ect its overcharging for what its offering.

When Microsoft offer things you cant get on another platform, like IPTV ect, ask me again, i think the little difference between Live and PSN doesnt justify the price yet.

Maybe that will change i have no idea, the way i see it is microsoft seriously need to offer something big nobody else does.

you should of bought the premium or elite...it's your problem really....for us that have the premium or the elite, $60 for xbl isn't bad at all
