Honestly, don't trust the reviews for the game...alot of review sites compare it to more; detailed and intricate RTS', like Sins of a Solar Empire, DOW, etc etc and then give it a bad rating because its "not complex, not enough options/units/stances/blah/blah". Which is totally opposite of what Halo Wars is, which is a streamlined, functional console RTS.
Whether or not you like this game, is totally a matter of taste; if your an RTS veteran, then its probably not the game for you. If your new to the genre, or just love the halo universe, its right up your alley.
IMO, it's a fantastic game. Although not the most visually impressive, nor does it do anything innovational (except make a RTS work on a console), it makes the game feel like your playing halo, which is an impressive feat unto itself.
If you remember when you "stuck" that ghost in halo one, or lazered that warthog is Halo 3; you will encounter similar experiences in this game. and it feels damn good.
Now unfortunately this comment would have been longer, except i'm off to school! :)
