I was playing Tecmo Bowl online against someone winning 13-7 and with a few seconds left I was in the open field with nothing between my character and the endzone

So of course I ran out of bounds

There was no need for me to win 19-7 instead of 13-7 and chances are he PROBABLY wouldn't have minded but why risk looking like a poor sport?

I was playing Blur (great game) and two kids were just shouting and making noises into their mics so I took the time out to report them and then move on. Yeah I was going to be done with them soon but why have the next person have to deal with that?

This is what I mean by the whole US vs THEM, XBOX Live is great and to make it greater we have to be considerate of the other players either in the match we're currently playing and report the jerks so others don't have to deal with them.

It's not fun and it's not flashy but it does make a better playing environment for everyone

So are you guys in?

I've always had that attitude. Take the time to report players who are neglecting the rules and policy of online gaming. I can't stand it when people simply just ignore them and do nothing about it. Passiveness is not my thing. It's like that pesky neighbor who plays music really loud at night.. or that barking dog that will never stop barking all day and night. It's just too bad, there are too many passive people out there that do not care and wouldn't take a small bit of their time to do the "right" thing. This isn't about nerdrage, or anger. I dont play enough online to encounter that many people. But when I do, I'd like to be able to enjoy my time on there, for myself and others. This is a rule of thumb for me in general, and not only applies for online gaming, but everything else too.

I'm with you. Maybe it's a generational/age thing but I want to think it is not. When people start in with the racist comments, use their mic to purposely annoy or harass others, use their mic to launch in to a "comedy routine" no one wants to hear or get overtly hostile, angry and abusive to anyone in the game I am in I mute them, report them and avoid them. I try to never quit a game to get away from them, but I've been in a few games with people I simply could not tolerate a moment longer because life is too short to waste it on people who are only out to spoil things for others (and I still seem to wind up in games on occasion where you cannot mute people).

I'm with you. I get tired of jerks and idiots on Live. I want a nice, wholesome experience when playing. I've noticed that Blur is pretty terrible about that(amazing game, bad community)

I don't get why microsoft doesn't actually start using the "gamer zone" or whatever its called that you can select ie Family, recreaction, underground or pro. It seems like you can have recreational selected but then you get put with a bunch of Pro or Underground people. It's a good idea just not implemented well it seems.

Well, it's nice to see that someone shares a similar mentality that seemingly 85% of the Xbox Live community acts like scum. Myself probably included in the opinions of some. But yeah, what the heck, I'll join and support your whole "US vs. THEM" campaign.

It's nice to see other people are interested in this too

Oddly enough I've only had one bad experience in the Blur demo and I've raced it until I maxed out my character/profile

There was one instance of someone winning and then bragging that he was great but then he got beat and was quiet so that was enjoyable lol

Same goes for the Reach beta, only one bad match out of like 40 maybe?

I think this part is important

I dont play enough online to encounter that many people. But when I do, I'd like to be able to enjoy my time on there, for myself and others.Elian2530

Not everyone has a lot of time to play online and while someone who plays maybe 20 or 30 matches in a night wont mind two of them being awful what about the guy who only gets time for 2 or three? Those people have a bad experience because they take whatever free time they have and waste it playing bad gaming sessions, then they less likely to spend that time the same way online again

One of US doesn't come on as often and that means one of THEM wins

Well, after the 3 horde games that I've had online, i haven't met a lot of trolls, but i have encountered many on the playstation 3 and all i can say is, i'd hate to meet idiots like them on live. I'm joining purely out of not wanting to meet any online.

the reporting i get but the whole 'out of bounds' thing isn't that great and only applies to sports games. doing something like that in a fighting game can get yourself a loss and show that you were giving the other player pity.

It's not about giving up and making the other player feel pity

It's about when you're playing with someone and the outcome is already in question to end the match as quickly as possible.

It's like in Blur, if you're at the finish line you don't dump all your weapons behind you to slow the other player up, you already crossed the line so it's over. In a fighting game you can't really do that but if the guy only has one sliver of health left you don't do an elaborate move and then a "finishing" move to extend that fight even longer. You take him down and that's it.

Or when you're playing on versus teams and the other team just hides and waits for the clock to run out instead of ending it with kills.

i never lower anyones rep for leaving early, they could have something to do or a mom yelling at them to take out the trash
