looks good, bought a 360 just to play it. Only thing I don't like is that the japanese audio isn't synced with the characters lips but the english one is.sliccc

Yeah, I was wondering if that was just lag from the video I was watching or if it really was so. Oh well, at least the English version is fine.

People that played it said the story was pretty weak and characters are cliche. I'm renting it off of gamefly.

LO is one of the best RPG's to be released in years. The gameplay is solid, the story and characters are well designed, the graphics are OK not the best around though, the music is great also.

I would recommend this game to any RPG fan.

The Japanese are the founders and fathers of all gaming as we know it Ironfungus

I think you need to research video game history before making a statement like this.

Well IGN gave it an 8.2 so I guess thats pretty good. Don't like JRPGs though so I probably won't like this.

I think you need to research video game history before making a statement like this.

Why would he need to research such a statement? It's obvious that you need to read the post again. Note the last 3 words. There is a very pronounced difference between videogames before and after the early 80's. By the early 90's, American hardware producers were being forced out of the industry and relegated to being recognized as publishing houses. This is not to say that I agree with Ironfungus. His position is rather obtuse, as is the position I assume you are taking.

I agree with the TC, why the hell are numerous anti-JRPG fans posting on the thread? Oblivion is a good game, certainly. But WRPGs are more enjoyable in real-time and pen, paper, and board, if that's your thing.

likewise, my friends, ethnocentricity isn't attractive. I'm sure your mothers think it's really sweet when you disparage an entire culture, but the rest of us don't. It's actually quite pathetic. Furthermore, a large portion of us understand a lot of the themes involved in JRPGs. Why? Because we're interested in world history, mythology, and folklore. Because we're aware that all human culture revolves around the same major values and morals, and because after decades of playing these video games, we have come to acquire a greater understanding of Japanese culture. Stop posting on a thread dedicated to an upcoming JRPG, Morons.

In relationship to the topic, I'm extremely excited about LO, I recently translated a Japanese review, and it seems interesting. The use of Turn-based battles is awesome, because they're becoming rare in JRPGs. The marriage of turn-based battles with on-field enemies(non-random battles) is the best setup for JRPGs, in my opinion. I highly doubt it will live up to their previous work with Squaresoft, because they lack the inordinantly talented development team(s) that once supported their efforts. The music will not rival FFVIII, and the gameplay will not rival FFVI. I think many of us will be slightly let down, because that's what we are expecting. I'm still buying it, hell, all JRPG fans whom own a 360 will buy it. We buy every JRPG we can get our hands on, and get upset when one doesn't get released here (like the first dozen Shin Megami Tensei games). We even spend exorbitant amounts of money on Atlus/NIS games that are SO worth the money.

Yeah, I'm obviously excited.

Yeah, wasn't too excited about it at first, but I did a little background check and saw who was making it. Combine that with some sweet cutscenes as an example to character-depth and drama and I'm hooked.

Im really excited about this game, I've been tracking it since I heard of it way back when. Then just recently I saw the commercial with the song White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane and I was like... Cool. So I think I'm going to pick it up on Tuesday. Plus Nobuo Uematsu rocks my socks.

Nah, i've grown AWAY from JRPGs in my teen years (Before I was 13, I played Final Fantasy, Dragonquest, Chrono Cross, etc.) and onto more action-orientated games (Such as Mass Effect, Halo, Half-life 2, and Oblivion) mostly because it took way to long to get anywhere in those old games and i've become alot more of a "Pick it up and play" gamer where I dont wanna spend alot of time just learning the story, when I could just be playing a fun game from the start and they can explain the story along the way.

IGN gave LO an 8.2, citing bad voice acting, an 'average at best' story, and technical problems. The technical problems I believe, but eh.. IGN is the lowest rung on the ladder when it comes to game reviews, not that it's a tall ladder, mind.

I've seen the trailers and gameplay footage. It has no worse voice acting than Final Fantasy 12, which did very well. Gamespot and IGN are currently known for giving bad reviews to JRPG masterpieces, because they simply don't understand them. That's the reason why you used to see JRPGs get crazy awesome reviews. USED TO, because they fired all their JRPG reviewers.

If I'm going to like anything about this game, it's the music. You know what else? YourChaosIsntMe's post reminded me that years back, America wasn't doing too well when it decided to do it's own gaming. Japan's Miyamoto then decided to come into the fray and resurrect gaming. I'm getting the feeling that it will happen again, because western games are getting suckier and suckier as the day progresses.

My honest opinion, though, is this: If Nobuo Uematsu has anything to do with a game, then it will probably be kick ass.
